bar 98....I'm having the same problem, incredibly tail heavy !!! Right now I have the whole plane disassembled and giving it a good overhaul, and I'm moving everything as far forward as I can. I want to place the fuel tank right over the cg, so there's no change on balance when the fuel level changes. I had my batteries a lot closer than 8" from the ignition module and I had no problems, in fact they were about 2" apart. Right now my batteries and throttle servo are in the engine box, and the rudder servo is right behind the fuel tank. I'll let you know how I make out.

I was working on mine do day too.. I have the cg in the right spot but I am having glitches like crazy. I will be putting a post up to see if there are some ppl that can help me find out what is making this glitch. I know it is not the cdi that is doing it.. I can only get about 50 feet from the plane with the engine off.. whith the engine running I can get about 25 feet.. I know that is not going to work.

Keep the info comming in.

KI8FR,
How is the antenna routed out of the plane?? Do you have the antenna completely extended, or is it inside of the fuselage? Does it run next to the servos or batteries? Can you post a picture of your receiver installation and the antenna routing?

If the antenna is ok, I would disconnect each servo one at a time and recheck, Also your servo extensions can cause a person grief at times, Thats another thing to check. If that doesn't show up anything then I would change the receiver and try it. Glitches can be a real bear to find but we both know its better to take home a plane that glitches than one in a sack.
If you can do as Ken said and show us your set up. I had some problems also, But mine was only while running.
I had the batterys to close to each other. also the charge leads needs to be seperated for each switch, Ign& receiver.

I really need to get back to finishing mine. Still in the covering stage. I did have a pretty good reason for the detour though. Let me know how this CG issue turns out. I really want to finish this plane, Must stop buying new planes!!!![sm=thumbs_up.gif]

I don't know how Midwest got the right balance using the Moki 2.10 and just moving the battery.

Mine come out perfect using a G-62, I lightened up alot and also use a C&H IGN. I don't know what a Mokie 210 weighs but my 62 is just a tad over 4 lbs. Its a great flying plane I might add, My problem is I don't fly it enough.

Which kits are you having the TH problem with the early or late ????

I am having the problem with the Midwest Extra 300XS, please note that the tail on this version is heavier. I did some test tonight and I have to add around 7 oz to the nose, I will add the spinner and I will try to move the throttle servo and the choke servo to the engine box, but that is not easy.

With my stand offs I could put the servo on the engine box is I so wanted theres enough room ,might be a way to solve some of your problem W/O adding unwanted lead

I have installed 2.5" stand offs, and the spinner is very close to the cowl, what I will do is to use 3" stand off. Any one know where I can buy it?

Finally I got the right C.G with the DA-50, I added in total 8 flat washers to the standoffs which makes now a better separation between the cowl and the spinner plate and also I added a 3.5" spinner from Dave Brown.

Myself I would call MW with a request for the plans. Or check to see if there website has a parts list for the plane ,if so the plans should be listed.

I added more modifications to the fuel tank place and servo throttle position.

It flyes really nice, easy on landing.

Nice mod on the tank bar98, what size is the tank? I have thought of doing the same thing with mine but I would like to add both fuel and smoke on the CG ,and i'm concerned about enough room. Another thing that has stopped me is the fact the plane flies so dang good with the tank in the original position I hate to mess with it. One of them if its not broke don't fix it deals *LOL*

Digger how is your project coming along ,its been a while since you last posted any progress.

Well, not a lot of progress. Still in the bones ready to cover. I'll get to it one of these days I'm sure. It's kind of on the back burner for now. I have a 35% Carden now that I am working on hopefully to maiden in a few weeks if time permits. I really do need to finish the Midwest though.
