RE: Jetlegend T-45 Hawk
Hi Guys,
Please note that the current production fuse is somewhat lighter than the one I reviewed in RCJI.
Perhaps someone with a new kit could weigh the fuse?
Eric

Ahhh, thanks, Eric. I had wondered if the one reviewed was the original one or a later one which is supposed to be considerably lighter, as mentioned earlier in this thread. I reckon for a reasonable EDF conversion it needs to be about 1kg lighter, to keep AUW below 7kg.

Hey meps. I have not flown it yet but it is ready. I took it to Shreveport Jets meet and we got rained out. Last two weekends since have been a washout in Houston or I have had to be out of town. Hope to get it maidened in the next couple of weeks if the weather cooperates. I used Fut S9650 digitals on the ailerons. Let me know how you are coming on yours. I know of three here in the Houston area that are just about ready to fly. Will post results when we get them in the air.

Mine is coming along ok. I bought the kit version. I'm putting a p-70 in mine. I hope to have it flying by September.

Steve, any chance that you may be able to weigh the parts for me please? I've been trying to get Jet Legend to help me out here but it seems they're not interested. I'd really like to get one but for an EDF conversion I need to make sure it's not gonna be a lead sled. Thanks!

Hey Tiger,
I am just wondering, with all of these cool jet kits you keep getting and speaking so highly of, how are you doing pursuing your turbine waiver? I remember that when you singned in for registering, you in fact marked off that you had a current AMA turbine sign off, but when I asked you to show me as CD, you could not produce it? What gives. Did you get it, and if so, what was the name of the CD that signed you off! We at the AMA would like to know this please.

What parts do you need weighed? I have glued all formers into the fuse. I haven't attached the control surfaces to the wing yet. Just let me know what you need and I'll do my best to get it to you.

Thanks! I'd like the weights for the fuse, wing and stab. I understand it's lighter than the older version (for which I have the weights), hopefully it's light enough! Thanks again!

RE: Jetlegend T-45 Hawk
My re-build is proceeding nicely, I am now at the point where I am installing the equipment.
Please don't condemn me if this question has been asked before
I have noticed what I consider quite a bit of slop in the elevator mechanism, in particular the U-Joint where the motion is transfered from the link arm to the shaft holders of the flying stab.
The "U-Joints" seem to have a large amount of play to them which translates to about 2mm or 3 mm (.080" to .120" ) of movement at the trailing edge of the flying stab when you grab on to it.
I believe this caused the Jet to slowly Oscillate in straight and level flight, as I noticed this characteristic when the previous owner flew this model, I also noticed this on a completely different JL T-45 that my other buddy has, he also has the same slop, so could this be a design flaw from the factory?
Has anyone else noticed a slight Oscillation / searching during level flight?
There is absolutely no movement of the servo arm, or associated linkage, all movement is in the U-Joint.
Is this normal?
If not what have others done to correct this?
Thanks
Rich

I checked mine and it appears to be ok. I haven't flown mine as I haven't finished building it yet. I'm wondering if this slop is developed after a few flights. The oscillations are not detectable in the videos that I've seen. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Mine appears to be fine - it seems to have a little play until I cinch down the holding screws fairly snug. Did not hurt the flight performance. Examining the unit before installation, it seemd to be very tight; like no play in the mechanism itself. My impression was it was a really well, CNC machined piece.
I'll measure my play in it this evening.
