What plane will allow me to fly 3d in the wind?
What plane will allow me to fly 3d in the wind? I am looking for something with enough wing loading and good 3d performance.
All the foamys I have will not let you fly any thing precise even the they all can fly in the wind. I am thinking of the Somenized 49' yak Sebart Katana, etc.
Thanks in advance,
Marc

The E Flite 260 can handle the wind, but precision went to heck.Anything light loaded will get blown away.Depends on how much wind you mean?
If its breezy the 260 has no probs and tracks well.

to be honest, they all fly in the wind just fine. Obviously the lighter ones get tossed around more, but they still fly fine.
I took my 40 size mojo (very light) & 6mm depron foamy (feather light) out in 35+ winds once. It was a fun fly for a bunch of boy scouts, so we pretty much had to fly & they both did great. I'd hover one at one end of the runway & it would be at the other end in a second. it was a blast.
I pretty much had to land them in the weeds though to keep em from blowing away. hehe.

I'm just talking about 10mph wind and not getting pushed around much.I like to fly indoors but don't have that available often. So I wind up outdoors with the foamy's I have. The heaviest one is a Stiffy YAK
It would seem that a higher wingloading would be the answer ,but are you sacrificing 3D perforemance?

Anything balsa around 25 ounces+ should be the ticket. I overpowered the heck out of my Prodigy with a Park 480, it doesn't even notice 10mph wind. In hovers it will get blown in the direction of the wind though, best approach is side on.

Even a shockie will fly in 10mph with ease and 15+ at a push.
My fave trick is to roll and K/E whilst static.
The wind very rarely drops below 10mph in England so wind proof models are the norm here.

ya, its really about having the power. More I think about it, all of my slower models dont perform that well, and my faster ones all do great. Its not a matter of shape or airfoil for what im talking about, just brute strength.
