Default 1/4 Spacewalker Servos

What servos is everybody using on the Sig 1/4 Scale Spacewalker II? (Futaba/Hitec type).

Thanks

If you're asking what size servos should you be
using, I can tell you that, in my Space Walker II, I use standard servos for the ailerons (JR) and
1/4 scale servos (Big Daddy) for the rudder and
elevator. I've been flying this aircraft with a
Saito 1.50 for about six years with no problems.

I don't know what "Big Daddy" servos are. Do you have a Futaba, Hitec number. What is the torque rating?

The Big Daddy servos may no longer be available.

Hitec has a 1/4 scale servo, with an advertised
torque of 139/174 ounces. This Futaba compatible
servo's Hitec part no. is 31700J and is known as
the Hitec HS700-BB.

Look under Hitec's site at: www.hitecrcd.com

Thanks Jerry, that's just what I needed. The price on the 700BB isn't too bad either.

Standard servos work OK on the ailerons?. I assume one per aileron, not two?

I'm putting a new Zenoah G26 gas in mine. About the same cu. in as yours, but guess it will pull a little harder being a 2 stroke.

I'm going to bash the kit a little and make it look like my Spezio Tuholer homebuilt I built in the 60s. Picture attached.

Yes, standard servo's will work for the ailerons,
one per aileron. However, the kit instructions
recommend a servo with at least a torque of 60 oz.
per inch. Again, Hitec has a standard servo, no.
HS475HB, rated at 61/76 oz, Futaba compatible no.
33475J.

George, I like you color sceme... do you have any other pics ?

I have recently posted the following on this forum..

I have the MAN plans for the Spezio TuHoler drawn by Cliff Tacie. Would anyone have construction articles that cover the plans. Plas call for a .60 engine. I am planning on a 25cc engine for it...

Hightflight 1987 #4 had a article Review by Dick Garmhausen FS-37 but not sure if it was for these MAN plans I have.

The Spezio Tuholer is also known as the Spezio Sport DAL 1.

Floyd:

I have lots of other pictures. I'll post some here.

I also have the MAN plans for the Spezio (for sale if anyone is interested). I decided to kitbash the Spacewalker 2 instead.
I had a Zenoah 23 in it to begin, not enough power. I now have a Moki 1.8 and it is plenty of power.

Floyd:

I'll post some pics along with this reply. I have a lot. If you want more, email me and I'll send them to you. [email protected]

My cockpit is pretty basic, no seats, just a panel. I don't spend a lot of time in details.....they all disappear in the crash [&o].

I usually fly it once or twice a season. Burns a lot of fuel with the big Moki engine, but flies much better than with the small Zenoah. It takes a lot of power to push all tha drag through the air.
