Default Pop Up Adds

Is anyone else starting to get a lot of pop up adds on RCU. The last 3 days I can't hardly view the posts because the pop ups come up so often. Don't think its my computer because it is only on this site. Dan

Keep in mind there's a possibility of transparently runnig programs on your computer being the source of the popup adds.

The popups are not coming from RCU. I am not computer savvy enough to tell you all of the possible sources for popups that appear while you are visiting RCU, but I have found that sometimes after visiting a site that has popups they will continue to appear after I move on to another site.

RCU does not, has not, never has and never will have pop up ads period. You have a timer in the background planted by somebody else and it's poppin' them on you.

I'll have to second the vote for ad-aware. It cleaned off around 120 files from my computer that I had no idea were there, mostly spyware and tracking cookies. It's not R/C related, but it's good stuff. I have had no hangups or slow browsing since I installed it.

I use the "Avant Browser" which has a built in pop-up blocker. Works great and is free. http://www.avantbrowser.com/

Default pop ups

Thanks for the help guys. I just did a system restore to early last week and I think that has taken care of it. If I find that it didn't I will try some of the remedies that you listed. Thanks again. Dan

I am a computer tech by trade, and every computer that has been through my door in the last 3 years or so, has as little as 2, but as many as 2000 instances of spyware in one form or the other. Get Ad-Aware, as mentioned above.
