RE: servo question
ORIGINAL: full maxx are all srevo splines the same as long as the servos the same size ie, micro,mini, regular, extra large
Servo Horn Compatibility =
Futaba, JR and Hitec should not be interchanged because the number of splines are different, Hitec = 25 whilst Futaba have 25. Futaba horns will fit a Hitec servo, as they have a slightly large shaft fitting, but they will slip under load (usually at the worst possible time.)
Hitec arms/discs will not fit Futaba or JR as the Hitec output shaft diameter is smaller.
A JR arm fits onto the Hitec output shaft but teeth of shaft and horn splines hardly meet, just waiting for a hard load to tear the teeth off.
Current Heavy duty Sonic Tronics arms =
#340 = Futaba
#342 = Cox, Sanwa(Airtronics) and JR
Hitec provide their own very heavy duty arm sets at very reasonable prices
#56402=surface #56316 = Giant Horn set - see below.
Current Tamiya servo savers provide discs as follows =
S4 = Futaba
S7 = Sanwa(Airtronics),Acoms,KO & JR
S8 = Futaba & KO = Old square output shaft
S10 = Futaba & Acoms the newer square output shaft just prior to multi
splines.
S11 = Sanwa & KO older spline pattern.
Best heavy duty horns for Hitec =
1. Hitec part Number # 56316 = Giant Horn Set being a disc, 4 point and a 2 point with a metal ring to put around the base of the horn to prevent it splitting under load.
2. Hitec part Number #56402 = Surface control horn.= 2 x very solid 4 pointers
3. Hitec aluminium output arms as now provided with the new digital servos
Note: Many "Brand Labels" such as Kyosho, Tower, Hobbico, Cirrus etc use OEM Servos which are rebadged servos made by different manufacturers such as Hitec, GWS, Bluebird, Futaba, Hobby Electronics, Prafa etc - not all of whom market any servos under their own name. Accordingly, some USA "brand labels" e.g. Hobbico, Tower & Cirrus, do have some very different shafts and splines - a matter of obtaining the right ones and keeping them labelled separately. e.g. Hobbico & Tower Servos are marketed by Great Planes. The Hobbico brand pre-fixed "HS" being sold to hobby shops, while the Tower brand pre-fixed "TS" is sold by Tower Hobbies:
Digitals: TS-140 is a Futaba built servo and the TS-160 is a Hitec built servo.
Analog: Tower System 3000 series servos made by Futaba
Hobbico/Tower System 2000 series servos made by Hitec
(Servo horns built for one will not work with the other. Wire colours and connectors are good indicators of the respective servo manufacturer.)
Caution: Nylon horns dry out as they age and get quite brittle - to rejuvenate, boil gently in water for 15 minutes and allow to cool as was the case with the old nylon propellers.

RE: servo question
No, for the standard size Futaba, DAD, GWS and FMA are the same. JR and Airtronics are the same. None of the micros I have seem to be interchangeable between brands.

RE: servo question
Does anyone know what servo arms work with the standard size Bluebird servos like 620, 631, etc? I have heard Futaba arms fit but I have not tried them.
Thanks, Wiggy
