Hi smokingtommy...Had one, but the covering was faulty, kept splittting, during assembley.Had to return to model shop, never got as far as flying the thing.
I was sorry to return it as the covering was very nice looking.

I don't know much about the 50 Giles, but the 140 Giles is a great deal (If you can find one). CMP ARF's are pretty good for the price, but the covering can be a problem. I use medium heat on my iron, and seal all edges. The little 50 is a nice looking model.

Got the giles 50 arf about 3 weeks ago.. gonna fly it this friday comming up .. i have a 70 asp in it and it seems like tons of power... the plane in person might be one of the most beautiful arf's ever made but as stated above the covering tears very easily.. i made about three decent tears in building it, but if you just clear monokote over it you can barley see them.. Hardware is very good and all pieces fit perfectly.. hopefully she flies as good as she looks..

how does this plane fly? is it easy to build? how's the instruction and everything? i'm eyeing this plane as my new project, the quality looks good, but why is it $89 so cheap? any catch?

It's a wonderful ARF with surprisingly decent hardware.

The finish is gorgeous.

As others have said, you have to be careful about the covering.

I clear coated mine with clear TopFlite spray to help seal the edges and prevent the adhesive from debonding due to glow fuel seepage.

The instructions stink, but the plane practically falls together.

The control surfaces use pin joints ( good! )...

The landing gear is made of carbon fiber ( !!! ).

The fuselage is fully sheeted.

The rudder uses a nice PULL-PULL arrangement.

If you are considering this ARF, I hope you have some prior experience building ARFs so you learn all of those important little "tricks".

As always, re-inforce the landing gear areas.
