Charan, Hello I would not start out with the Predator get a good Trainer type high wing slow flyer and learn to fly it well before you try sometning else. You need to know how to handle a glider well before you you try to fly the Predator. multiplex makes some nice gliders that are good for a beginner.

Charan,

Warbird-Dave is correct. Take a look at this site as they have a large selection of beginners planes; www.hobby-lobby.com
Let us know what you find of interest.

PJ i have a question, do you have an e-flight p-38?
I only took the photos, but my pal Greg did the review; http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/a...article_id=928
All of us at the flying field really liked the P-38. It just might be a good one for you.

Ryan,

In your post you asked; "My question is that do I need a new transmitter?" I'm not familiar with your radio, but if it was part of a Heli package, (as opposed to a regular JR, Futaba, Hitec, Airtronics) that may be the problem. I would suggest to call Castle Creations tech Dept. and tell them what the issue is. It may just be a
glitch with their Berg 7P, but in any event, they are most helpfull. Let me know how it works out and keep up the good work on your build. Also, never hesitate to ask any questions and post more photos any time.

PapapJeff... thanks for your reply. I guess I had just assumed it would work. Or maybe just hopeful. Anyway, I did contact Berg and they are looking into the issue, and I contacted exceed to find more specs. They are so vague with their tech specs. Anyways yes it is a cheap transmitter and I am preparing to bite the bullet and by one that is better quality. I sort of have to now. lol

I am throwing some photos on here... Just some of my servos and the front wheel... I am making it steerable.
also, motor mounts with aluminum. By the way thank you for posting the specs on the bolts you used... made my life easier at home depot.
Thanks Again,
Ryan

Ryan,

What transmitters have you been looking at? I feel confident that you will be pleased with any of the well known brands. Any news from Castle?
Let us know.

Either of the Nitro planes would be a good choice. Remember that the Predator is basically a "Scale" plane that was made to fly like a powered glider. Now the Spitfire, you can fly scale-like or do some acrobatics so it just might be the better of the two choices for you.

Brownlab, I have a Nitromodels Spitfire EP the OD one and it is an easy build and easy to fly however if you stall it while landing it has a bad tip stall so make sure to come in with a little speed and keep the nose down right up untill your ready to flair up for the touch down. I logged over 300 flights on mine it is retired now I took the motor and electrioncs off of it to put on my Predator.

I thought I would add a few pictures of my Predator in better days. I havnt started on the replacement yet as I am concentrating on an OV-10 Bronco, but should have predator mark 2 flying by Christmas. Also a picture of what happens to your hand if an electric prop bites it.

Yes, prop strikes can be mean. This resulted from toss launching an acft.

Did not want long push rods. Moved servos. Works fine.

he he, maybe we should start an injuries thread!
I like the idea of putting the servos in the tail, this would leave more room for the nosewheel steering.

Chris, The problem I find with the servos on the outside is it takes away form the gliding. If you want the Predator to be a true Glider you need the servos on the inside to get the least amount of wind resistant you can get. If you plan on running power to motor most the flight then servos on the outside would be fine.

I tend to keep the power on most of the time, so it should be okay.

I have ordered a flycamone Version2 which has a movable head. I am going to experiment with a gyro to stabilise the video. I will keep you posted
