Shelly Foss 36"
I'm thinking of building the 36" Shelly Foss and needed some input about the motors I have. They are Astro 25's that were in Dauntless boat I have for sale. They have cooling fans, but would water cooling be better and would these have to be geared down?Astro flight has gearboxes for them at 1.63 to 1.They were ran with 12 volts in the other boat, but would running at 6+ volts and a lower rpm be better for a tug?So would it be 12 volts geared or 6+ volts geared or non geared? Also the old setup has a switch, which I thought was for reverse and an old ESC.Would these be usable or need to be replaced by newer ones and if so which type and amps would be needed? The boat will also be used with a removable rescue barge on the front to retrieve my larger gas boats,so need some torque for pushing.I figured the size of the Shelly Foss would be good in water with a little chop.Any other sugestions would be appreciated.
