...wouldn't it be cool if it used the very popular RCEXL circuit? At that price it's worth getting one to play with, and maybe another one to take apart and see what's inside.

Sure! The last thing I bought and had sent International Mail (via USPS) was from England. Shipping cost was $100, and it still hasn't arrived after almost 1 year. USPS is hopeless in tacking or follow-up. I was told flatly that it could not be tracked until it reached my local P.O., even though it has a GB tracking number. It may be a good deal, if you get it. In the future, I won't buy anything international, unless it is shipped by a carrier, such as FedEx, DHL,etc. The difference is in the way such shipments clear Customs. I was told by the USPS that USPS items go through item by item (if it goes through at all). The other carriers clear a whole container at a time. It's much harder to mislay one of them. John

I might have to be the guinea pig on this one. It sure would lighten my boat up. What is involved in setting up CDI on a Homelite if I may ask?

You also need a hall effect sensor and a small powerful magnet to mount someplace in the crankshaft.

I have one of these coming already. Last time I ordered from UH, it took about 10 days to get, so I should have it by next week sometime. I'm putting it on a 21cc Kioritz just to experiment with.

I ordered two lipos and two electric motors from them New Years Day and the order got here yesterday. Even with the $25 shipping the low prices made it like getting a free battery and electric motor compared to the US prices. That was the first order I've made from overseas but I will be doing it again.

It doesn't say.
But it's off a 45cc engine that is rated at 7800rpm.

I ordered one plus a hall sensor, and a receiver and servo for 84$shipped registered airmail.

I have a poulan 25cc conversion that will be the testbed for it. Hopefully it works well. It turns around 8000rpm on gas glow with a 16x8 but the idle isn't great.

I will have less than 100$ in a 25cc gas airplane engine with prop, hub, muffler, stack ,and electronic ignition. Probably better not count the amount of time I have in it....but it has been interesting and fun so far cutting, drilling, tapping, porting, timing etc.

It would be great if someone could throw a timing light on one of these units in use and let us know if they are auto advance or not. May have to order one myself to play with if they are.

Does any one know what kind of hall sensors it takes. I wander if mine off my CH or S&S will work on it?

You looking in to playing with EI? Not gas/glow? lol

I have one that ignition and hall sensor. It does not have any chip inside. I guess there is no any advanced timing. I've bought them but do not use, because I have this good device http://www.modelbouw.gompy.net/cdi/cdi.htm .

I had the lid off my RCExcel advancing unit to fit a supplementary earth. It also has no visible chips. They will be surface mount and buried under the potting compound [8D]

This is not a RCEXL ignition. I would guess the timing chip is under all of the black goop and circuit. It is probably a copy of the xl system from the looks of the parts I can see.
Mr. Laing Xu said some one had cloned his ignition Ha. His is a exact copy of my CH system. Looks like the chinese are cloning the Chinese.Very Funny. But I am to old to worry about it.
Send me one and I will tell you if it has a timing control and how it works.I will even send it back. Maybe I could clone it.

Well, it's not for me actually. My brother really has a tough time getting engines to run right. (Guess it didn't run in the family...) So I'm thinking that regular gasoline/ignition might be a little easier for him, though it is of course heavier, more expensive, etc.....

Maybe with a "normal" ignition gas engine, I can set it up for him once and tell him not to touch anything, and he can run it until the plug fouls or he crashes it.

I have 2 on just gas but all others are on gas/glow. If for some reason I can get my 10/10 fuel I do not want to be stuck and just be flying my small glow ones lol.

Ya know guys Ralph at rcignitions sells a single unit for $75.00 and a twin, I believe for just over $100.00 with an even if you crash warrenty.

I believe his stuff is the best deal around.
