Default TM-14, is it region locked?

Hi Bax or Krysta!

If you live in another region (let's say Europe or Asia), and you order a TM-14 module from Tower Hobbies in USA, will it be possible to use this module in a European or Asian 12Z radio, or is it region locked?
There was a discussion about this in one of the other forums (not RCU)

Thanks!

Lars

ps. Happy New Year!

Hi Lars,

We are not 100% sure, let me check into this with Futaba Japan, but they are currently closed due to their New Years Holiday and I will let you know sometime next week when they come back.

TM-14 Module from Tower did not have a CE sticker on it.

This is getting very interesting indeed! I have also a TM-14 set from Tower, definitely no CE labeling. Illegal in EU??

All Futaba items sold in North America conform to FCC regulations. We have seen none of them with CE markings, so we'd have to conclude that they are not legal to use in Europe or outside of North America (unless your country will accept U.S. FCC Type Acceptance).

We have heard from others that U.S.-purchased Futaba TM-14 modules will work only in U.S.-purchased transmitters, so the region-coding is installed in them.

So can we make this crystal clear Futaba 2.4 Ghz Tansmiters, In particular the new 7c are not able to be used in the U.K because they do not carry the CE sticker.

Thx

If the 7C transmitter is imported from a North American seller, and does not have the CE marking on it, it would not be legal for the EC. Systems imported into the U.K. by the U.K. Futaba importer, Ripmax, will have the correct certification for use there.

So it is not just the Rf modules & Rx's that are region specific???
If I went to UK with my 14MZ, could I borrow a 14MZ module from a pal and fly???
