Engine?
Just received my Lanier Yak 87" from Towerhobbies 329.99 + 45.00 shipping.
What is the best suited engine for this plane for aerobatics and 3D?
Brillelli 366?
Thanks Tim

RE: Engine?
I would go with a good light weight 60cc class engine. The Brillelli is a good choice and possibly one of Ralphs lightened converted G62s. A good used ZDZ 60 might also be an option.

RE: Engine?
Not totally sure, but I remember a short while back Ralph started removing metal and shaving off weight here and there to get it as light as possible. You might try talking to him.

Can't speak for the G62, but I swear by the 366GT. I have one in a 87" YAK at 15lbs 10oz and it is insane power!! I also think that you will end up a little heavier with the G62. I also have a Brillelli 50, both engines are rock solid and I would recommend them to anyone!

RE: Engine?
No, not a Lanier. It is a KMP YAK. I like how the Laniers look, but I don't like the 2 servos per aileron on a 30% plane and the extra headaches and cost associated with them. Actually, in looking at it, it may be an 85" wingspan but I'm too lazy to pull it out and check! The KMP is a prototype of a well-known 30%, but there were some serious quality issues and it got a bad rap. I have over 100 flights on mine with zero problems, just got lucky I guess!
The Brillelli engines are outstanding and the customer service is as good as anyone in the business. My 366GT originally had the SS ignition on it. Scott started having problems with them and contacted me to find out how mine was working. It turns out I was just starting to have problems with it backfiring when starting. He mailed out a new ignition that day! With the new ignition, I have had zero problems.
My Brillelli 50 is on an old 30% 300 extra that weights about 18 lbs. I use it for IMAC and the 50 pulls it around effortlessly. I had a Fuji 50 on it that was gutless and very hard to start. Now, it is 4 flips and unlimited vertical.

RE: Engine?
My converted G62 weighs 4 lbs, for reference. Ralph at RCignitions, or Scott at Brillelli are both great guys, and provide great products that can be trusted.
