Yes, it looks heavily wing loaded not to mention you can really see the engine torque the plane around the sky. The plane seems to always want to go right but not so much left. Is it me or too much right thrust?

Hello to all,
ITS a KMP Super-Sea-Fury,

http://www.kmp.ca/product_info.php?c...e7ed9e95b27f0e

which is much larger than the thunder-Tiger, the wings are much deeper; landing speed with that weigt is relativly smooth and slow, you see it in the video beyond

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVmEW...eature=related

Weight is about 7,8 Kg, with fuel 8,5

flight under normal konditions is ok and neutral, in the video there is heavy wind from the front left side, so it seems the plane tends to roll right side, but thats wind;

that radial i also had in the focke wulf, 2m wingspan, 9,5 Kgs;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tKns...eature=related

into FW 190 i place now the famous MOKI VT50-4 (50 cc 4stroke gas engine- the cylinder is from the 250cc radial ) ) www.airworld.de

than i had to make service, cause the ball-bearings were rusted, so i had to dismount the whole engine to change the bearings,
and i putted in nirosta-bearings;

fotos of *intim* Saito beyond, is already running again

Greeting from SALZBURG; AUSTRIA

Wow! First time I have seen the inner workings of the Saito radial. Thank you Flugmax!

Look at the gears! What a job to time them all?

Hi Guys..

I need som help... I looking into using Soloprop on my Seidel ST-770. this has turned out to be kind of difficult due to
the spesial prop hub used on this engine. The ST-770 has a 16mm multibolt propshaft adapter, and this does not work with the
Soloprop hub. The Seidel hub i easy to remove. The propshaft itself is 10mm x 67mm, so my plan is to mill a key(woodruff) in the shaft, and turn a new prophub. Converting it to a singelbolt configuration, like the ST-710.
Now, it would be very helpfull if anyone of you that have the ST-710, could take measures of theire prophub, and shaft..
I see that Gnome uses the Soloprop, so if I could duplicate your set-up it would be very nice..

Thanks in advance..

Mfg Sandman

No no no, Sandman, don't mill a key slot in the shaft!!!! The original ST710 prop hub is just fixed by a tapper spanner with a slot in it, that sits in a tappered hole in the hub and is compressed by tightening the prop nut. Isn't the ST770 hub fixed the same way? I can remove the prop of my ST710 and make some pictures and measure the diameters and tapper angle if You want.

OKI... I guess the single nut hub is made the same way as the 6 bolt.. The 6 bolt assy has a taper in each end, and uses tapered
splitt rings, so when the front nut is tightened, the prop hub is compressed onto the propshaft. Clever design, as if (when;-) a prop strikes the ground the hub will spinn slightly, insted of bending the shaft...

If the prop shaft are identical, i guess Mr. Seidel could provide me with the prop hub... Worst case, I could make my own...

Gnome: any pictures and measurments would be VERY helpfull...

As far as the larger GAS radials such as the 215 go. Is there any other way to start them other than by hand? Does somebody make a gear reduction high torque electric starter that's large enough? I just read about a guy who nearly had his arm chopped off by a 250. I like radials but I like my appendages more.

I'd say a great deal of this is just rumors. Sure big engines, any engines for that matter will seriously hurt you, but the 215 Moki radials I've seen have been absolute PU$$Y CATS to operate.
Absolutely no need for any extra equipment.
I'd say you've more chance of injuring yourself on a .46
Mind you s#it happens.

Hello Sandman, here the pictures of the spanners and the hub. The hole in the hub is 13mm diameter and 3.7mm deep, the hub is 8.6mm thick. I bat the dimensions are quite the same as on the ST 770 prop hub!

Gnome: Thanks bigtime...

I was s little supriced that the rear hole was cylindrical, on my ST-770 here are a conical split ring both in the rear and front of the hub, and the holes are allso conical..

If you haven`t all ready assembled the hub-prop assy, could you verify if the propshaft is identical as my 770.
Total length :67mm, 18mm treaded and 10mm diameter.

I think that I will make my own hub, it would properly be more easy that ordering on from Seidel :-)

If interested in following my progress on both the Sist FW-190, "working" guns from Maxotronic, and Seidel radial please take a look:
http://forum.paulsenbrudvik.com/index.php
You have to register to view the pictures, and most is in Norwegian jibberish. All information on the Maxotronic guns, are kept in English..

Thanks again Gnome...

Mfg Sandman

Hello Sandman, here the measurements:

shaft length (from ball bearing to the end) : 57mm
thread length : 17mm
shaft diameter : 10mm
thread : M10 x 1

I think that You can get the two spanners, one with inner tapper and one with outer tapper, from Mr. Seidel, so that You don't have to make a tappered hole with the correct angle inside the hub, a cylindrical hole for the spanner with the inner tapper can be made much easyer. As the ST710 shaft is 10mm shorter, You probably can make the hub thicker.

Wow!

It's a magnificent aircraft model in the air as well on the ground. The radial sounds like a mechanical symphony!

Thanks Jan! [sm=thumbup.gif]

PS: What radio Tx are you using here, and what is the toggle switch on top of your throttle stick used for?

Hi Kmot, jes, it's a fine model, but it is not mine, can't have everything, but I really enjoy watching (and listening) these radials in the air and on the ground too. The transmitter seems to bee a Futaba FX 28, I use a JR MC 24 and also hade such a switch on the stick. I used it to controll the flaps (it had three positions). Some time ago I then had a fault on the transmitter, when I moved the stick, it sometimes happened to move the rudder to full throw without having touched the transmitter controll. I found the wires of the switch had a faulty isolation, so that the switchs earth wire was connected to the rudder controll. After that I removed that switch again, just to prevent some crash and not to prove my good luck too much...

Hello Tom,

Yes, I am using a robbe (futaba) FC 28. I think these are almost only used in Germany. For some reason the rest of the world flies hand transmitters, only in Germany do we love the pult-style. But my next transmitter will be hand-held style as well. I like the way, the switches can be reached much better on the hand-held ones.

I use the toggle switch for different applications depending on the model and yes, I know that's dangerous! For the most part I use it to switch between flight modes. Eg. switch back in landing (smaller throws, slightly different trim), middle for classic aerobatics and forward for 3D (biggest Throws possible). Another application is when teaching my son on the trainer lead. Here I use it to give him one function at a time: Back is off. Midle is ailerons or rudder only, forward is ailerons and elevator. And a separate switch for throttle.

BTW I have ordered another plane for a Seidel. It is a Czech production by the company "Savex": it's Aeoro A-102. This was a prototype for a WW2 warbird. Only two were produced and it never went into production or battle. But isn't it a beautiful airplane?
