Need Ryobi part....
Hi,
My brother's Ryobi has a broken plastic back plate where the reed valve/carburetor mounts, and I need to fix it for him. I'm down in "Old Mexico" where I don't have access to dumpsters, yard sales, and small engine repair shops. I do have a U.S. address to ship to however.
Does anyone have one from a blown/otherwise broken engine they want to get rid of???
Thanks,
AV8TOR

Hey thanks Bill, but I think these guys got me covered.
The engine was being really "finicky" and acting strange. It also didn't want to idle down all the way, even with the butterfly completely closed. I pulled it apart and found about a two inch long crack in the backplate, right about where the reed valve makes that slight bend, going sideways between the reed valve mounting area and the inlet throat.
But the good news is that even with the problems, my brother finally flew the Rebel, and now he knows "Bigger is Better, and conversion engines are great!!"

RE: Need Ryobi part....
I'm posting this here because of who's following this thread.
This plane is ready to fly after tons and tons of work and lots of money
Except for this strange problem. Did I mention lots of work?
I have a G-62 that is giving me fits.
It is running the stock G-62 coil and a C&H ignition system.
It starts and runs good sometimes. Other times the spark jumps from the cap to where the porcelain meets the base.
I first cleaned the plug on the outside. The plug looks new and has been running a medium tan color.
It would run fine for a while then start shorting out, even after I cleaned the plug. It was a BPMR6a plug.
I changed the plug to a brand new plug, a RCJ7Y.
At first it ran perfect. 1500rpm idle and 12000rpm on the top end. 1500rpm was rough but reliable.
But after 20 minutes it started doing the exact same thing.
The only thing I haven't done was put silicon grease around the plug.
I have put electrical tape on the plug and it may have helped for a short time,
but not for long.
One more thing you can get shocked by touching the plug wire.
I found this out by touching the wire while adjusting the Carb.
Any ideas? I'm 3 of us are really stuck on this one guys.

Yes Terry, this is the Ryobi I had a high speed miss with. I don't know if the crack was causing the miss or not. I rather doubt it, but since the crack was under part of the reed valve, maybe it couldn't seat properly at higher rpms. (flutter) I'll find out when I get it back together. If the miss is still there, I'll go after the sensor, and then the cd box. (The battery tests fine.)
