Picked up a Hanger 9 Piper Pawnee 40 today. This is by far the best quality ARF I have seen.
Hope it fly's as good as it looks.

I have a friend who has been building a AT502. Think its around 100"WS. The wings an fusg are all pretty well done. He has made all kinds of scale parts for it(steps, fresh air port,sat-loc, light bar. Even went as far as makein scale looking rivets. Flawless craftsmanship all the way around.

He has ran into a bit of a probelm: He needs to figure out how you make the top of the hopper have that fiber glass looks.

I really need to find out for him how to get that look, cause as it is right now its been pushed to the back of the table.(which sucks)To work on a huge stinkin Cap580.

Any help would be really great.............Thanks

Hi Masonman,

Is the Fuse finished in the hopper area,?

If not , one could mask off the area where the exposed glass of the full scale's Hopper would be,

Paint this area the color or Shade of Weathered Fiberglass, Then after paint dries, lay a piece of saran wrap or wax paper

over this area & make a mold of this area of the hopper from 3/4 oz glass cloth, once this dries remove it & trim it to the shape

& lay it on the painted area , it should give you the desired effect,

Although one should alway's test on something other than one's Masterpiece,

You might even be able to mix some powered paint into the glass resin, instead of painting ,

Just my thought's, i also have a set of 90" Ag-Cat plans,

My Father is a Retired " Cropduster " of 34 yrs. Most of his time being in Ag-Cats,

So when are you going to pursue the Ag Cat? I've got a set of plans, too, but it looks like in the not too distant future there will be an ARF availabe. Maybe I'll hold off and see what happens.

Outacontrol41,

I just spoke with Duane this afternoon. The prototype will be shipped to my home this afternoon. Hopefully I will receive it by this weekend (03/14/08). I will get started on it as soon as it arrives. It would be pretty neat to see a couple of Ag Cats at some fly-ins. Hopefully post pics as I progress. Here's a picture just for fun.

Brian,

You're 'da man! If any one told me before this that an Ag-Cat ARF would be available, I would have told them 'no way'. In fact, I have said that in previous posts way back. Now, I'm happy to eat crow....but really happy that the rc ag world is finally waking up from it's looong sleep. Wow! It's finally happening. Gone are the days of us ag fans trying to trace down the ever elusive Kyosho Agwagon on Ebay...or searching our attics for the Whyte wings Pawnee....stuff that's rare and discontinued. Other than that, there was nothing. NOW....we have the RC Guys Ag Wagon 98''ws ARF coming soon, the H9 Piper Pawnee 40, E-Flite Pawnee E15 electic, Duane's 100'' Air Tractor, and now an Ag-Cat is in the works. Like Mickey Dee's says....I'm lovin' it!![sm=lol.gif][sm=thumbs_up.gif]

I was thinking of getting a kit cut, rather than getting all the wood myself, maybe having someone like P.C.K.

do this , They may even offer a kit already , It's been so long since i looked at their list of kits,

Tell me More on the ARF Ag-Cat ! This Sounds Great !

How Big ?

Who's putting it out ?

& When, I Already want one , If it's a Biggen !

& i'm sure my old Pa will want one as well !

Can't wait ! I MUST KNOW MORE !!! 51-D GUY.

The ag planes are great. I have always loved them. I also bought a H-9 Pawnee in hopes they sell well enough to produce a 1/4 scale.

I will also have get one of the Ag Cat ARFs when they come out. I built this one for a local guy....too much work.

yea, but it looks good tho'. By the way....is our pal Tom still in business? I wonder how many other people are waiting for 'his' Pawnee kit. I finished my TMRC (my last) plane, but now these agplanes are coming out of the woodwork.

To all,

If you are inquiring about the DH AgCat and would like to purchase one of these wonderful dusters you can e-mail me at [email protected] I will compile this information and forward Duane a list on a weekly basis. This will give him a more complete outlook of demand on his product.

When the plane arrives at my home I'll pull deminsions and post them in this forum for the inquiring mind.

I always like to post a picture. To me it keeps the site interesting. Just for fun.

Hey 51 Guy. Yes the hopper area has covering on it. The model is about 90% of the way built.

To all inquiring about the DH-AgCat........

I received the DH-Ag Cat yesterday afternoon (03/19/08) I can tell you now that this is one of the finest durable ARF's that I've ever seen and put my hands on. Duane really hit a homerun on this one. Everything in the kit is top notch quality. You won't be disapointed. Now I need to purchase me a new digital camera so that I can post progress pics as I move along with the completion process.

Just for fun for you guys to look at....I'm thinking of finishing the DH-Ag Cat in one of these color schemes. Still undecided.

Either of the first three look closest to stock....not sure about the fourth. All the ones I've ever seen were mostly yellow. Also, I'm a Sony kind of guy, so may I suggest a Sony Cybershot. That's a great long lasting camera...I've got three for my business. You can't go wrong with those.
I have no doubt Duane produced a quality ARF with the cat....all the posts I've ever read people have praised his work. I simply can't wait to get my hands on one of these!!!!!!!

outacontrol41,

Thanks for the camera tips. I'll definetly keep the sony in mind when I do my shopping.

I like the yellow type paint schemes. Just threw the white one in because it looked curious and I've never seen one that color. I will go with the yellow color scheme.
