I'm working on my order to Heli Direct as we speak. I agree that's one hefty motor. I should have most of my stuff here by next week so I can really get going on this thing. I just received the De Walt A123 36volt battery pac I ordered to make a flight pac for the E Smart. I'm going to give these a shot and see what happens. Should be interesting to say the least. Mike

I don't really understand that, are you taking an actual DeWalt Tool company batterypack and converting it? I here about the A123 alot. But it'll still be another few weeks before mines airborne, I need everything, Tx, charger, batteries (which I found some super cheap ones that some other guys are using), and a few other misc parts.

Hobbycity has the A123 cells now, 1100mah 3.3 volt. I don't know how much the DeWalt packs are but it might be cheaper to buy the cells they are like twelve bucks each.

Now just to get a DX6i, a BEC (?still don't which one will work with 6 Lipos, unless I spend $35, but I know people have used $15-$20 ones, just not sure which ones), battery and battery charger, should be somewhere around $450 more. Then my E-Smart will be airborne , at least for a little testing

Are you planning on using the telebee on the esmart 600? that gyro is a little light for a heli that size. the lowest end gyro i'd use for it is a gy401 but you'd be better off with a 770 3D or solid g gyro. the 422 is also a little slow to be using as a tail servo but it would be ok for now. try to find a jr 8700g used for around $50 if you can.

I got my order in yesterday, wow, the Telebee gyro is soo small, just based on size alone I understand why you said it wouldn't be good for the E-Smart, still prob gonna try anyways , but even if I don't use it on the E-Smart it'll always have a good home on my Belt CP or HBK II, well on the HBK II, I'm not flying the Belt CP anymore for a while, 2 crashes is enough for now

The cells from the dewalts are somwhere around 2200 to 2400 mah each. Twice the capacity of the onces you are referencing. You can get a dewalt 36 volt pack for around 120 from Ebay. that works out to $12/cell for twice the capacity of the ones hobby city is selling. Big E-RC has the 2200's available to order in whatever configuration you want (4S, 6S, 8S, 10S etc). They are a lot more than making your own packs from the dewalts but a bit less hassel. If you go to 8S or 10S you will need to get a high voltage ESC (castle or other) as standard ESC's will not take the voltage.

Sounds like a awsome Heli. I love esky's so this ought to be good value.

On thing about Esky's "flybar design"

Teh fly bar on top is a Bell helicopter Rip. all bell Heli's have the Stabliliser Bay aka Fly bar so it makes sense to me.
It should in effect give you that much more tipsy sensitivity for HOT acrobatics and with a dose of ego show others how "pro" you are.
Anyhow thats what i heard from my engineer friend.

nothing "good value" about a heli that costs $100 more then its bigger brother, the E-Smart 600 (9 inches bigger, and cheaper )

I'm still trying to figure out how a 900 is smaller than a 550. Received my electronics and aluminium mixer today. Few more boxes and I can start building. Mike

I was just comparing prices on repair parts, and the cost of repairing my E-Smart is will be the same cost as repairing my Belt CP, cool, not that I intend on crashing. Soon very soon my E-Smart will be ready to fly, I can't wait, just need charger, Tx and batteries,

What size batteries are you looking to start out with? I think I saw somewhere that Esky recommends 5S-6S packs rated 5000mAh?

I have been shopping around myself in anticipation of my ESmart/900. These are about the best value for money that I have found so far.

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6352
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6353

For a charger, either the [link=http://www.b-p-p.com/proddetail.php?prod=fa_0606i_DC]Hyperion 0606I[/link] or the [link=http://cgi.ebay.ca/TP-610C-1-6-Cell-Li-Po-0-25-10A-Charger-Balancer-T-Rex_W0QQitemZ160225975396QQihZ006QQcategoryZ34056Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem]Thunder Power TP610C[/link].

The Hyperion from B-P-P comes with free shipping. So once you have included the correct balancer adaptor they two chargers will cost about the same. Both are excellent chargers.... I would happily vouch for both of them (own an Hyperion and 2 x TP chargers. Personal preference is for the Hyperion.. but it DOES need the additional balancer adaptors that come included with the TP.)

I plan on using [link=http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6417]2 of THESE[/link],

and then I'm buying [link=https://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6590]This Charger[/link], there are a few people who have brought this bird into the air with a 3S1P 5000mah alone, but I want 2 packs instead of 1 so that if I damage 1 it won't cost too much to replace it, I'd like to run the 4 battery set up but not completely sure how to connect the wires, course then I'll have to buy more chargers

I am pretty sure that 2 of those in 3S2P configuration will work just great. The charger I have never heard of before. You have noticed that it has a 50Watt max charge rate?

I just noticed something... 2 x [link=http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6417]4000mah 3S1P[/link] packs are only $4.60 cheaper than 1 x [link=http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6415]4000mah 6S1P[/link]. I really like the look of these Zippy packs. Really good value for money!

50watt what, I don't know anything about chargers just yet so whats that means, slow charge times?

Also the biggest difference between those 2 batteries is the 3S1P's are in stock

I've heard alot of good things about this site, I like the prices, seems alot of people on "other" forums have been using the zippy batteries for a long time, good reviews, and again, wow the prices are great

Watt = V X I.

So at 11.1 the max current you can supply is about 4500mah. So as long as you do not go bigger than that on batteries you will still be able to charge at 1C (you can recharge a 4500mah 3S pack in one hour). Unfortunately, by the same formula... at 22.2V you can only charge at 2250mah. So it will take you almost 2 hours to charge a 4000mah 6S pack.

Largely academic as the 6S packs are out of stock as you pointed out . So for the 3S pack this charger will do just fine!

The 15C rating might be a little low. It is pretty close to the limit in any case.

4400mah x 15C = 66Amps constant draw. Apparently the motor will not draw more than 50Amps... Personally.. I do not like running LiPo so close.
