Default Country of manufacture

Can anyone shed light on where the major rc aircraft gas engines are manufactured? For instance which ones are Chinese, and where is Brillelli made. Some are maybe obvious such as Fuji (Japan?). Desert Air is U.S. - any others?

DA is largly U.S. BME has some parts coming from Taiwan with others from elsewhere. Taurus is majority U.S. with heads from Germany. Brillelli can be either U.S. Echo or Poulan, Europe. RCGF, 3mm, DL, MT/LS Pro, GRPro, and a bunch of others are China. Zenoah can be China or Japan. 3W is largely Germany. Herbrandson is U.S.

Pat, thanks for the info. How do you learn that stuff? It's not always apparent, even on product web sites, as to where they are made.

Being in the right places at the right times mostly, but working "behind the scenes" adds much in the way of clarification. Frequently much is not what it seems so you end up doing a lot of research. Lots of networking too.

I'm glad you guys chimed in. The MVVS/Evo and ZDZ are engines where I haven't looked into their place of origin and didn't know.

Oh fudge, yer right. I meant Evo as a contraction of Evolution. That's the way it's commonly being used on the web. And the Evolution gassers are rebadged MVVS gassers.

Yes, and marketed as part of the Evolution line of engines out of China, thru Horizon. Most people call these engines Evo's.

MVVS's and ZDZ's are made in the Czech Republic and the Evolutions are a 100% Chineese clone of the MVVs line.

Mistakenly so. It's right up there with "Nitro Gas" and other clueless labels.

Are you sure the Evolution 26cc gasser is Chinese? I've never seen one. Does it say "Made in China" on it?

I seem to remember that Horizon got the MVVS distributorship away from Morris Hobby and rebadged the MVVS gassers as Evolution. It was a while back, though.

Also, the low US$ value. I'm surprised foreign (especially European) engines aren't more expensive than they are. Try to go to a European website and price 3W engines in Euro, even without their VAT, then convert to US$, we are getting a huge break on the price here in the US, since otherwise they wouldn't sell anything here.
