As of now i'm working on RWD Sprint 2 Drift. I have moved the battery 1inch forward in the chasis. And machined a 1/2 inch steel plate that fits over the foam bumper. The weight balence is virtualy reversed. I'm waiting on my wheels and tires. We'll see what happens.

I have a shelby cobra 2wd car, and i am trying to drift it. What should I use? PVC, duck tape, ABS, electrical tape, or masking tape? my car is also a little too tail heavy. Im thinking of putting some weight in front so the front slides too.

2WDrifter, im sorry, but you are one hard headed ****. I understand that you are pulled in by x mods and all those cool looking upgrade parts. I have like 5 x mods myself and have had fun using them in my living room. You can spend lots of money upgrading these little machines and it will be fun to do, but in the end xmods are still just toys. Listen to what people are saying, theyre not flaming theyre giving good advise. Save up and get a hobby quality RC. I can tell you like RC, it shows! Its funny cause you remind me of me! So i relate to were you are coming from. But you have to know how to take peoples advise, If xmods were so great, everyone here would be raving about them. And anyway you owe it to yourself to get a nice R/C car!
P.S. how old are you, are your parents your only source of cash?

I read this whole thread and not one picture of said 2WD drifter or video [:'(] Come on people! we want ot see what your building, modifying, and what not even if its a low grade chapie RC.
I hope you ended up getting an RC grade Drifter at some point.

2WDrifter - GO FOR IT! if this keeps you busy tinkering and shooting for a goal, more power to ya dude! But, what you are trying to accomplish is "almost" physically impossible, especially to do it consistently and in a layout. Sure you will probably achieve some bashing around type drifts but if you ever want to drift with other guys in a layout where you need to control your placement in a lane, clipping a marker and so on, you will need a tuned 4wd chassis.
But I must say I love your drive and determination!

It may be almost physically impossible but is still impossible, i rigged my 2wd truck to it and it works great! really all i did was bought new wheels, put pvc on all four, and tied up the back two with Electrical tape/ Duct tape. it works great

HERE IS MY STAB IN THE DARK, I THINK YOU WOULD NEED A LOT OF TORQUE AND SOME KIND OF REAL DISC BREAKING SYSTEM AND RUBBER-WAX COMPOUND TIRES, AND BE AN EXPERT DRIVER TO PULL THAT OFF. KIND OF LIKE THE REAL DEAL!!

RE: HOW DO YOU DRIFT WITH JUST 2WDRIVE?????
2WDrifter seems to be long gone from this thread, but I miss one piece of information: The effect of a limited slip differential. I would consider that a basic requirement for drifting or sliding (whats the difference by the way? The front wheels not sliding in a slide?).
And as for the 2WD weight distribution: I have been surprised how well the Tamiya DT02s (Sand Viper, Desert Gator etc) slide, even if they are very tail heavy. Tamiya claims they are better balanced then the previous 2WD buggies, and I have to agree on that. I'm pretty novice in this game, but I find easy to semi-controlled slides in tight corners. I initiate the slide by braking and turning, and then apply a suitable amount of throttle to keep the slide going. But not easy to find the balance, and perhaps not a drift?
cheers

RE: HOW DO YOU DRIFT WITH JUST 2WDRIVE?????
I just saw below video and came to think of this thread. In slow motion it does seem as if the 2WD cars driftpretty nicely, albeit not much...

They are losing grip at the turn something they don't want to do. There is a big difference between that and intentionally breaking it loose and keeping it in control. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing or being sarcastic here, but that is not drifting. Look at this video, this is drifting, I have yet to see a 2wd RC drift controllably like this - but if you come by one post it so we can see:

kstmRYD: nice video!
I tried drifting my DT02 2WD buggy. Very lame result:

Perhaps the worst possible weight distribution for drifting?
