Default getting back in the hobby...need a truck!

hello all. i have been away for a few years but its summer now and i really want to get back into the world of nitro rc. i used to own a hpi rs4 that i had a lot of fun with but finding a nice big clean parking lot to run it was always a pita so im thinking i want some type of off road truck this time! any suggestions? it has to be rtr and not crazy expensive. like a said its been awhile so i really want ease of use and a nice easy to run vehicle to get my feet wet again.
thanks!

The Revo 3/3 is a good option. Or an LST2. Both are great rigs.

we really need to know what price range your looking in and what kinda terrain you will be running (dirt grass sand gravel) for example also what scale you want i agree with the guy above the revo and lst2 are great trucks but are kinda pricey around 530 for a revo and the lst is more than that the more info we have the better advise we are able to give

ok well it will be mostly dirt roads, short grass, a little parking lot just to drive around with my friends.

i would like to spend 400 but will easly go up to 450-475 if it was going to be really worth my time! i live in Connecticut so during winter months the car will not be in use and also i go to college full time from September-May so i will have very little time then also.

I would go with a Savage X 4.6 or a MGT 8.0 or 4.6 which ever you could afford more. These two trucks are considered by most people to be the top bashers of MT trucks. But will not be very competitive against a LST2, or Revo on a racing track.

ok so ive started to narrow it down...
1.) HPI Nitro RS4 MT2 G3
2.)t-maxx 2.5 rtr
3.)mgt 4.6

those are not my final ones but just a few. out of those 3 though whats the most bang for my buck?

T maxx is probably what you don't want to go for.. You can get an MGT 4.6 for 370 at ultimatehobbies.com with free shipping. Leaving you plenty of money for spares and fuel and what not.

for what you will be doing i think you will be happy with any truck you pick if you get the tmax id get the 3.3 over the 2.5 or you will just end up upgrading and it will cost more in the long run i think the savage is one of the most reliable lowest maintenance tucks in your price range the associated mgt 4.6 is a good truck a little faster but it has a few bugs in it the associated 8.0 has worked out the bugs of the 4.6 but has a couple of its own and a little out of you price range associated also has a 1/10 scale mmgt so far seems to be a really good truck ive seen them run and there fast and seem to be reliable and around 330 out the door might be a very good choice you would be able to get fuel batteries and everything you need to run it under 400 if you dont mind 2wd hobby town has the traxxas smax for 299 its a 2wd tmax you also have the traxxas stampede a very fun little truck my boys love them in the end i think you will be happy with whatever you chose ask around your lhs and see what they carry parts for and look at all the different trucks just see what grabs you they all have their own little issues and they all break its just the nature of the hobby i hope this helps

A Savage/MGT/ Revo/LST2 is what you want, those are the top trucks on the market. The MMT is cool, but the only source for parts is hobby people and I guess at least in my area, no one carries XTM parts[]

Your wrong there are a lot of shops that carry XTM but you always have online back up just like all the major brands........If you take good care of them any of them will hold up very well. no acceptions [:-]

http://www.ultimatehobbies.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=ASC20501!1007 369.95 at ultimatehobbies with free shipping. They are pretty much on a level playing field. I got an mgt 4.6 and my buddies got a savage X 4.6. The mgt is slightly larger, it has reverse but you will probably want to get rid of that after a while with the Foward only Conversion kit. They are both very durable. You will be happy with either. My friend payed about 450 at Lees Toy and Hobby in Groton for his savage but you can get it for 404 at ultimatehobbies. http://www.ultimatehobbies.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=HPI867!1007

That would be a good choice as far as I'm concerned also..............its a great truck and one of my best sellers.

Of course a dealer would say that
and thats what a person who lacks any common sence would say
