help locating retracts for P-51
I was hoping there is a hobby shop somewhere in the U.S. that has the robart 622-5 and 160LWC retracts for the Top Flight P-51 arf in stock. I am having a heck of time getting them through tower, backordered, backordered etc. If anyone knows of a place that has them, PLEASE pm me so I can get them headed my way.
Thanks
Z

I asume your ARF is the Giant scale one. If so, have you considered the offering from Sierra Precision? These are even better than anything Robart produces.

You realy can't beat the Sierra's. I know they are almost twice the price but after tall the stuffing around i've done with my robarts, the Sierras are worth it!
Keep you eye's out for second hand sets. i bought mine on ebay for significantly less than the cost of the and they had the aerotech aluminium wheels.
Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,
how's the Stuka?
I also purcahsed the Aerotech wheels, they were nearly half the price of Robart wheels and from what I've heard they are exactly the same.
As for Sierras, yes they are good quallity, but Z is talking about the TF GS P-51. Robart have made retracts for the P-51 for years and they have a great reputation. There must be thousands of TF Mustangs out there with Robart retracts, all working perfectly well. I know with some aircraft Robart aren't the best, but in the case of the TF GS P-51, they are the goods.

Well, made a little progress. Think I scored a set of mains but robart tailwheels are nowhere to be found and backorder date was just pushed back further. I wonder if the sierra tail retrract is a drop in fit for the TF 51 arf. It isnt a whole lot more.
Thanks guys

I doubt the Sierra gear will be a drop in fit. However it would be worth any mods for the dependability of the gear. Darrel makes awesome gear...second to none. You can't go wrong with it.
Tower has had the tailwheel in question on backorder since the end of last year.
