Oxai Dymaxion Motor
Hi
Has anybody tried this motor yet? All the specs look great but would like to get some practical feedback.
Burt

RE: Oxai Dymaxion Motor
Actually,
It looks about the same as the Dualsky 6360-11T, but it weighs 650g vs Dualsky's 618g. Personally, I think specs like the 6360-12T are closer to what we want. It needs higher peak power, but seems better overall than the -11T.
It also has a 9mm prop shaft. That's pretty odd. It also looks like it is a front mount only. I personally believe a rear firewall mount is best.
Now, I wonder what the price is??

Observed two in use at our State Champs last weekend.
20x13 and 20x14 used. One with Dualsky controller and the with Hacker?
No shortage of power available and max current used 4100mah for P-09.
The Oxai props both performed very well.
Price....... relatively cheap compared to Hacker etc.

Hi
What was the wind conditions as my current Hacker setup with TP batteries only draw beatween 2700 to 3200 mah depending on the wind. As to the price that is the real plus about 1/2 the price of Hacker setup.

Little wind but the 4100mah flight was by the Australian Oxai agent pushing the motor/prop (Oxai 20x14?) combo as product development.
As a comparison, the same pilot using the "standard" Hacker competition setup generally uses 3100mah per flight (in a Beryl) and is not known for being light on the throttle. (To his credit he has taken a leap forward since experimenting with electric.)
The Oxai prop compares very favourably with the APC variety.

RE: Oxai Dymaxion Motor
Hi,
I was lucky enough to test fly an Amethyst biplane powered by the Oxai Dymaxion motor over the weekend. Flying both P09 and F09 in calm conditions the battery consumption was around the 3250mah per flight using the 20x14 oxai propeller and flightpower 5350
The power was impressive as was the airframe.
Cheers
Bill

RE: Oxai Dymaxion Motor
Hi Bill
Tell me more about the Oxai props, carbon, wood, etc? Do not see any photos on their web page. Also have you got some pictures on the manner in which the motor is mounted, soft mount or hard mount to the front of the fuselage. How does the noise level compare to the Hacker setup and last what altitude were you flying at?

RE: Oxai Dymaxion Motor
Hi Burt,
Sorry I don’t have any pictures.
The Oxai propellers are made of wood and are very light. The motor mounts from the front via a lightweight aluminum plate and some machined spacers. This along with the required aluminum bolts are supplied with the motor (hard mounted in the plane I flew). Installation looks to be very simple, 4 small countersunk holes drilled though the front of the aircraft.
The motor is as quiet if not quieter than a hacker given there is no gearbox noise.
Alt: Sea level
Cheers
