RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
It does have the 6mm Rear suspension mounts (the ones used on both front and rear) the Diffs are stock..never had any problems with them, Diff fluids are 5K front.. 20K..center..3K..rear. Motor has 12 tanks of fuel through it, the hubs have fresh bearings..This hellfire has not been abused, I also have the stock pipe, I also have the stock hubs and the wide set, i also have the full sway bar set. This Hellfire started out life as an RTR but as you can see it's basically an SS now..for $450 I'll toss in the brand new werks clutch ($100 clutch).

Vantage is who sells the pipe..You will never dent it..You just have to be careful that nothing rubs on it..I believe it was $106..that was with tax..everything..Would rather sell it all together..The carbon fiber top deck, steering rack, brakes, and center diff top plate are from speedtech, the hubs have held up great, I am using the mugen captured hinge pins because i have seen the stock ones pop out of the inside and not break anything doing so..[X(]..one less thing to go wrong..For the European tracks the Hellfire should be exultant, for fast smooth tracks if set up right it would rip..one trick..use the Xray steering rack..makes the Hellfire steer a lot more..

Yeah the bulkheads and other parts need squeezing and all sorts to get them to line up for screwing together. Not had a problem with stripping, just the owner before me putting too much loctite on the chassis braces!
Oasis, I have the same Carbon deck and steering rack. Extremely strong, had a run away the other day, smashed into my garage. Amazingly nothing broke, just bent my rear (?!?!?) left drive shaft, god knows how that bent when it was the front that hit...
Anyway, I'm guessing the carbon deck and SS braces managed to prevent any top deck or chassis bending.

Nice red! I like it!
Hi Boohoo! Don't worry mate, I couldn't care less if you had bid me up or not! I'm so happy with it mate, just spent my entire weekend so far building my Hellfire, and the one I bought from you (its for my dad) And been stealing parts from yours to replace my worn parts (but I wont tell my dad!)
Anyway, I think I remember you saying there was a spare purple alum shock cap? I only have 3 alum shock caps and a couple of plastic ones.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
but for example Savage SS is still (was popular, as i can see now Kit w/o Engine is also discontinued) popular, even it has no engine. There is a version with engine, too.. but stil SS
and there was HPI Hellfire SS Kit w/K4.6 Engine
So.. why Hellfire?

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
do you mean why should you buy a hellfire instead of other truggies? I'm sure loads of people will argue that you shouldn't get a Hellfire at all. A lot of people think they are crap. But I have had no problems at all with mine. Any problems that people have had with their Hellfire I believe are caused by a bad setup or bad build. Things such as the steering, that is something which if set up correctly, works absolutely fine, especially with a high torque servo like my 5955TG.
I have a theory that the Hellfire has a bad reputation because it attracts a novice audience. HPI are a brand which is positioned towards a basher crowd, their Hellfire was their first 'competition' truck. I think that a lot of people who bought the Hellfire, were the same people who would buy a Savage, and possibly (I'm making assumptions here, but I think they are valid) people who just bash, are less likely to build an SS kit properly, set it up properly and take care and maintain their cars.
For example, the Hellfire I just bought second hand was in way worse condition that the first Hellfire I bought (which was from a racer). The wrong screws were used for almost everything, the diffs were not shimmed, the hubs were not shimmed. The clutch bell was not setup properly, I could go on and on. It needed a complete tear down! No wonder people have problems with their Hellfires if they do not follow the manual closely when building it!

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
my first was £150 for the SS kit alone.
The second was an SS kit with loads of spares, O.S. .30 VG, and DX.2 for £150
