This is the first version of what I call the air-buggy, it's mostly spare parts and a bit of fabricated aluminum. The machine is much faster than I had expected, and that's just running a reedy conquest motor with an 8x6 prop. I think I need a 7700kv MM and alot more asphalt for this to stretch it's legs.

How fast would you say it is.

I'm not actually sure of an accurate MPH since it just sails by me, and without any brakes, I'm trying to turn without wrecking. I would guesstimate in the 30ish range though. I'm convinced that with the right brushless system, it could really get scary. It makes a great sound at full throttle. Stage two will be lighter and have far less drag, although the "flow-through" design seems to work pretty well.

thats the best prop powered car iv seen so far. as far as more speed, use a lipo batt. thatll give more power and less wieght. for aero, id try making a lid that covered the electronics....one that made the air flow over the chassis. make the cover fit as close to the top of the chassis tub, so it doesnt get in the way of air flowing to the prop.
you could also try mounting the prop/motor so its tilted alittle down, aiming the thrust some toward the ground.

Thanks!, I'll put that cover together tonight, and I'm also planning to eliminate the front shock-tower and look for narrower wheels/tires.

I would love to shoot a video, but it's going to have to be after this never-ending rain we are having. I have the cam/batteries/willing videographer and a large empty parking lot. I just changed out the Rx and the ESC due to some range-limiting glitchificational oddities[:@], hope that fixes the problem. Also went by the LHS today and looked at Mamba Max 7700's.

Thanks!, as I write this, it's trying to get sunny and hopefully it will remain so, for the rest of the weekend. I feel stupid for not realizing why I had the glitching, it has to be the huge aluminum loop attatched to the aluminum tub-chassis. I'm going to relocate the rx to the rear between the back tires and shield it properly. With the motor, ESC, and battery all within that loop, the RF noise must be intense, it's a wonder that it worked at all before.

Since the above post changes things dramatically, I have a question. What is the best deal going in 4600-5000mah 6-cell stick packs?, I'm already looking at Trinity reference packs as they seem to get good reviews. Need something that is durable yet affordable, thanks.

After consulting with the experts on this subject, I'm going to be using a 4600kv motor instead. Should still be plenty fast and challenging to drive.

Wow, that is really nice. How long have you been working on it? Also whats handeling like on that? Seems like it would be unbalanced.

Thanks!, I have put about 20 hrs total into it at this point, including thought about design stuff. It actually handles rather well since I extended the rear wheels outward from stock, it just gracefully turns at low to medium speeds, but if you go fast and make a sudden turn, it will slide a 180 right around with no leaning or tipping. If I had used larger rear tires, it would probably try to flip, but I also have them cambered so only the inner edges are contacting the ground.

That was my original intention, to build an "air-sled", but with the prospect of crossing a frozen lake if it flips, I decided on this. I have considered it, but I think I want something that just rips on pavement instead.

Looks really good, but the wheels may have zero traction as to steering. Maybe some spikes on the front .. lol

Thanks, it is going to drift when cornering at speed, but it was always going to be a straight-line machine. I just need about 500 yards of straightaway to really see how fast it will go.
