RE: TCIC Minnesota July 19-20
Good luck this weekend and have fun. I would be participating but I destoryed my IMAC plane about a 2 weeks ago due to a possible power issue and I have guard drill this weekend at camp ripley.
I guess I can try and fly an IMAC sequence with a UAV. (only kidding here)

Well the first day was a success with almost 3 rounds flown. We have to finish intermediate tomorrow due to the rain. We should get in an unknown and 2 rounds tomorrow along with the freestyle. The weather is looking good to get everyone out by 2 ish.

Jason Dumke, Contest Director, Twin Cities IMAC Classic, here.
The date for this year’s TCIC has been moved up to June 13-14, but the location will remain the same.
This year’s event looks to be even bigger and better than last year’s. Andy Thomas, Contest Coordinator, and Jim Dumke, Head Scorekeeper and I have set a goal of having at least 25 participants, up from the 16 we had last year. We have at least 4 new local guys who will be participating (hopefully a few more), in addition to a larger out-of-town contingent.
We are planning on holding the Freestyle portion of the event on Saturday night, and are also pushing to have on-site camping available for the out-of-towners. Concessions will once again be available as well as the amenities offered last year.
Last year we held a drawing and all of our pilots received a prize donated by one of our event sponsors. As the event grows larger, I am not sure we will be able to award a prize to everyone, but we will sure try.
Last year the weather was great on Friday (practice day), Saturday, and Sunday. Saturday late afternoon a front came through and forced us to postpone the Freestyle portion until Sunday afternoon, but I have checked and this year the weather looks to be about perfect ;-)
One last thing: If you have never participated in an IMAC event and are even remotely interested, this is the perfect event to get your feet wet! There will be a great mix of experienced folks and relative new-comers all of whom enjoy IMAC and are willing to promote and help the rookies. There you have it-No excuse not to come and have some fun with us.
Feel free to forward this e-mail on to anyone else you think may be interested.

Hi Jason,
That works for me as I have June 13th & 14th off but may have to take Friday off. Well count me in as an IMAC competadure newbe. What where the most popular size planes last year. gas, glow, 1.60 size or gasser? Just wondering what to bring.

Nedyob,
That's great! We're looking forward to having you there. The equipment last year ranged everywhere from .40 sized glow all the way up to 40% gassers. If I remember correctly the most popular sizes were the 50 and 100cc planes.
Last year people started rolling into the field mid-morning on Friday and we had a really good full day of practice. There were a lot of guys there helping one another out and it was a lot of fun.
I am already getting fired up about the upcoming season.

Jason,
In order to pre-register, do I have to be a IMAC member. Right now I am not a member of IMAC. Do I have to join in-order to pertisipate in the contest June 13th & 14th

NEDYOB,
No, you do not need to be an IMAC member to either pre-register or participate. You will have to register on the IMAC website(which is free) in order to pre-register for events.
As a side note, IMAC membership is $25/year, and the IMAC BOD has issued a new rule that current IMAC members recieve a $10 discount when entering sanctioned IMAC events. So, if you are planning on attending 3 or more events, it certainly makes sense to join.
These are great questions, don't hesitate to let me know how I can make this a positive experience for you. I know the first event can be a little nerve racking, but don't worry, the vast majority of people have a great time.

James,
The cost to enter the contest will be $20 for IMAC members, $30 for non-members. This covers the entire weekend of flying including Friday practice.
Give me a couple days to find out about hotels. I think Andy already has that information.

I started a new thead. The old one has the last year's dates in the title and I don't want to confuse people.
Please post questions in the thread identified below.

Hi Jason,
I have a question reguarding Pitts Mufflers and IMAC. I asked this over at the DL50 site, and I will ask it here also.
I see on the IMAC web sight that they advertise the J-tech mufflers. I like j0Tech but right now there a little spendy. Is there any other brand of Pitts style muffler I could use and not have it count against me as far as IMAC compitition? Does your flying field have a noise ordinance sorta speak.
