Here's the FAI final results and new US Team. I didn't get a chance to take pics of the Masters and Advanced results (they were gone before I knew it).
The Unknowns didn't take as long as we thought they would have. QQ had some motor issues and Chip was still running the Hacker 13XL (didn't have enough time to swap motors and get comfy with the Neu, but Danny Landis was flying one). I zero'd 2 maneuvers (K-4 and K-5) in my last Unknown (always listen to your caller, sorry Dave...lol) and that's about all of the "happenings" on our line.

I predicted Brett Wickizer would make the team soon (next few years) when I judged him in last year's Final; he was that smooth and accomplished. I didn't expect that he would make it the very next time. That's an incredible achievement and worthy of lots of attaboys. Outstanding effort Brett!!
And with Andy Jesky 2nd, it's a pretty good team. It will be interesting to see how the team will place

RE: 2008 US Nationals
Great Job Jason and Andrew!!! I knew the two of you would make the world team again and it is neat to see a new face on the team also. Jason told me the week before the nats that Andrew was flying great and guaranteed he would make the team again. He also said that if he could put a couple of flights together he would probably do ok. Well after following the contest and getting text messages from Jason after almost every round I guess he was able to put a couple of flights together.

Jason flew electric, with a Plettenberg 30-10 Evo in the finals
Thanks to all the boys back in Canada who wished me luck!
Equipment wise it went something like this,
Jas - Futaba, Pletty, Hacker/Jeti controller, Thunderpower 5000's, Comp-Arf Integral
AJ - Futaba, Hacker motor/controller, Thunderpower 5000's, Comp-Arf Integral
Brett - Futaba, YS 170, Oxai Aires
QQ - JR, YS 170, Oxai Euphoria
Chip - Futaba, I think Jason said Hacker above, CA Passport
Sean - Futaba, YS 170, Aires
Chad - Futaba, Pletty/Schulze, Thunderpower 5200's, Comp-Arf Integral
Troy - JR, YS 170, Oxai Euphoria
Dave - JR, Hacker outrunner not sure which one, he had an A60S in one plane and A60M in the other, CC esc, Thunderpower 5300's, Wistmodel Prestige
Bill - Futaba, YS 170, Naruke Altair
Futaba pretty much cleaned up
Seems to me that the Comp-Arf Integral and Oxai planes are very popular, everyone seems to really like them. YS on ignition was impressive, but QQ did have some flameouts that seemed to be caused by faulty ignition. Almost no smoke in flight though and very smooth.
Anywho, I just got up and have 15 hours of driving to do (and I still won't be home)......so thats it for now
Here is a shot of the finalists in FAI minus Chip and Bill, not sure what happened to them.

As of 8:30AM PDT, the new Nats News is posted with very nice pictures of winners, and some other candid shots. However, still no listing of Masters Final Scores. There is a note saying they will be published 'when available'.

RE: 2008 US Nationals
It is strange that the Masters scores are yet to be posted. I judged the 1st and 2nd rounds of Masters finals yesterday so I'd like to see the results to see if I had things right in my mind.
The Nats was a blast. Thanks to all the volunteers who made this happen.
Congrats to all who participated.
Congrats to the new US team. These guys had to battle some unbelivable competition. They will make us proud I'm sure. I firmly belive that the US could bring 2 teams to the worlds that would be at the top when all was said. To those who were just out of the top 3 like Chip and Sean all I can say is it must be very hard for you. I know I was 4th in a team trials once and it's not easy (1975). You guys flew really well and I don't know what else you could have done. Hang in there and don't give up. The level of competition has gotten better and better and it's really hard to call a clear winner anymore.
Best part of the Nats for me was meeting so many that I have only communicated with via emails for a very longtime. Guys like Jerry Budd, Rusty Fried and the whole California group are cool as all heck. Chad Northeast who helped me out with a prop problem and turned out to be the great guy I knew he was. Meeting Don Szcur, his Dad and of course his son Joseph who is the coolest person in pattern at the age of 8. Seeing old friends like Bill Cunningham, Don Lowe and Ivan. Meeting up with Chris Moon. Practicing with the D5 guys like John, Joe Dunnaway, Tom Gilkey, Todd and Chris and Vernon White. Helping Jack Li with my backup plane so he could experience the last 4 rounds of the Nats. And the best part of the Nats was to see my great friend Jim Hubbard get healthy enough to be there and fly.
Here's some pics I took of things that interested me. Thanks again to everyone, Mike Mueller

Gratz to everyone, especially the Jersey boys (Dave Lockhart... 9th.. FAI.. just wow).
All this pattern+nats buzz has motivated me to plunk down the amex and pick up a Focus Sport. It's been a while, but I think the right stick does the uppy-downy thing, right?

RE: 2008 US Nationals
Here is what the NATS are all about. Jack Li had engine troubles so Mike Mueller offered to let Jack fly his back up electric Impact the rest of the rounds. Jack had never flown the Impact nor had he ever flown an electric pattern plane before. So with no practice flights at all, he finished the last 4 rounds of the NATS. Here is Mike and Jack flashing the "E" sign for the electric pattern brotherhood. (inside joke)

Wow, what a ride. Just unpacked and off to see my niece (and other family). It was a great contest again and even better weather. Who woulda thunk it...lol. I'll add more pics and stories over the next few days, but now it's time for the little things in life.
Sorry I didn't get the Masters results. All the scores were gone before I could get to them.
