Default Woodland Davis Aeromodelers- Wings of Victory 2008

Ok guys Wings of Victory 2008 is just 2 weeks away July 25-27. This will be the last year at Mavis Henson field and Monty's last year as CD. So lets make it a good one prior to the move to a new site.

This is a link over to the event flyer http://wdarc.org/announcements/wings2008.jpg

This year we will be have the dive bombing competition and the awards for best pilot and best mutli engine bomber.

So who is planning on coming in to fly and what are you bringing to fly?

I will have the PT-17, P-61 and P-51 and look forward to seeing you all here.

I'll be there too with my Byron Corsair and the ME 163 Komet. I was at the field today for a some final tweaking on both of these planes today to be ready for WOV 08.

See you there...

I wish I could make this event..

Jeff and Forrest, It was great meeting with you and learning more about scale..

We are leaving on vacation the event weekend and I don't know if my wife will let me break up the first day of our trip..

I hope you guys have a really good turn-out. Everyone who does attend is sure to have a great time.. But remember to bring an extra sun-shade or umbrella, it will still be warm that weekend.

Once again, another fine event held at the Woodland-Davis Aeromodelers field. A great turnout and I know we had a great time. A special thanks to Monty and Linda Welch for all the hard work in putting on this event. Now we need to get our Panther's done for the Jet Fly in Oct.

Forrest,
Glad you liked that shot. I almost threw out my gear and flaps to try and follow you for a bit longer.
It seemed as though whenever I went up with the camera, a lot of guys would land. Was it something I did?? ;(
It is a challenge to line up a shot without scaring the other pilots.
Here is the second video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTGY7rAxEF0

Nice photos Stevo! You even got one of my Widow?!
If you see one you like of the F-86 you can steal one from here to post on your site.

Yea I am so used to flying with the rest of the Section 8 squadron, that having other aircraft around is no biggy. That is as long as you can fly a smooth line.

Hopefully we will have the chance to fly the Widows together again. Would be cool to see some good air to air footage.

I would like to Thank all you guys for supporting this event over the years. All you Pilots have made it the success it has turned out to be. All the hard work you have put into your planes over the years, from the building, the painting and all the details, to showing up under the extreme temperatures at times, is very much appreciated. It does take a lot of time and work putting on these events, but you all make it worth while when you show up. I have really enjoyed meeting and getting to know you all over the years. This is my favorite event. I love Warbirds... and the nostalgia attached to them and the era that they flew in. The field will be sorely missed by many, but as Vera Lynn sang many years ago....
"We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when, but I know we'll meet again some sunny day"...........

Hope to see some of you in October at the Jet fly.

Love to all,

Linda
