***ONE BAD ***** JET has ARRIVED****
08/08/08 THE day the FIREBIRD arrived. I have been wanting one of JMP's Firebird for some time now. Well those days are over. On the way in to work today, by warehouse manager called me on the cell and said, " There is a big truck here delivering a big box with your name on it". I immediatley knew what he was talking about.
After getting to work in record time a could not help but want to tear into this beautiful box, but I held out cuz I knew it would be a bear to get it all packed back up for the ride home.
After a couple hours it was time to split and call it a day. Talked to a couple of the buds on the way home, two of which shared in my excitment as they too will be getting their Firebird soon.
Got home, hugged the family, grabbed a cold one and the trash can and made my way over to the truck for the ritual unpacking. Come on guys, you know the feeling. Removing each peice of packing material slowly as to prolong the site of the contents.
Let me say this, I have NEVER purchased a kit that was so nicely packed. Every piece was either wrapped tightly in bubble wrap or suspended in a framework of high density foam.
Who ever packed this plane must have got a BA in packing or something
Anyways the plane , once finally exposed was in great shape. Not a scratch or ding from shipping.
The quality of the plane is unmatched by any. By far the best quality worksmanship I have ever seen. The next few weeks will be a dream to put this plane together.
Here are some pics of the packing

I plan on building this bird to the T as per the instructions. I have had the manual for a couple weeks know and have read it many times. Everything is spelled in easy to read black and white. I will be powering this beast with a JetCat P200. I bought Toms pipe, UAT, and fuel cells, which might I add are a work of art themselves.
Here are a couple pics of the quality of this kit.

Oh did I mention the tanks are preplumbed, how cool is that.
Well I can't wait to dive into this build. This plane will demand an awesome paint job which I also can't wait for but for now I will enjoy the following weeks of building.
Thanks again Tom Cook for an awesome product. This thing is a beast.

I am envious, the firebird is my dream jet, more than any scale bird or otherwise, the firebird is the jet I REALLY want. It's so aggressive, so big, it's a canvas I would love to spend coloring with airbrush work. Sadly, right now all I can do is dream, I've got the skills to build, PAINT, and fly, but not the funds to buy the canvas.... One day I will have one though!
Congrats on owning THE Ferrari of RC jets!!!

Billy - it takes a guy who is hugely secure in his manhood to post pictures of his jet swaddled in PINK.
Is there an add-on option to get it packed in foam that's in GUY colors ?
Seriously tho - congrats on your latest toy.

OK BILLY,
I know that you reallly want to finish the Yellow F-18 with P-200, soooooo, I'll just come up and take this huge FireBird distraction away and store it in my shop for you! I promise you'll get it back later, much later.
Awesome bird! Congrats!
The Hawg is ALIVE! Got the turbines installed and checked out, final balancing this weekend and she'll be ready to go. Can't wait for Fresno!

Looking forward to seeing that thing squeezing moisture out of the air. This is the only model that will actually do that isn't it? (hater's stay away)
So what's Billy's paint theme gonna be? He's covered the "Dukes of Hazzard". I know he like the Red Bull Scheme. A new NightRider is premiering this fall. The "Hoff" drove a Firebird in that series. Might look cool with a smile of red led swathing back and forth in flight. The all black could be an issue for the everyday pilot, but we're talking about Billy here.
The only thing I cannot allow is a "Blue Angels" Firebird. Or a "Blue Angels" anything that is not a F/A-18. I throw up in my mouth a little everytime I see BA Bobcats, Kingcats, L-39's...or a Boomerang for cryin' out loud. Don't y'all have any self respect?
Looking forward to seeing what direction you go with this bro.

Not sure I can tell you exactly what the paint scheme will look like at this point. I need to spend some quality time with her in the garage and feel the vibes, but I'll give you a little hint.
It's gotta be visable and "high energy" [sm=wink_smile.gif]

Now for the first step in the manual. Locate the areas in the tail section that have to be cut out. The servo hatch and stabilizer actuator pins have been pre marked into the fiberglass making for an easy cut.
Notice the pre scribed line in the vertical used for locating the nuetral piont on the leading edge of the stabs. This should come in handy when its time to set up the servos.

Tail requires about a 4" hole. I cut out a piece of cardboard with my compass to make a nice centered hole. Marked it with a pen to see it better when using my dremel.
