RE: New!! 150cc Yak 54 QB
Mark,
Just finished my first QB plane (the baby 75 cc Extra 260) last week. Awsome fit and finish. I like flying much better than building (assembling), so QB is now on the top of MY LIST. I am looking very seriously at the 150cc Yak next. Not to change the subject on the Yak, but for all around flying, half IMAC style and half 3D style flying, would you recommend the 150cc Yak or the 42% Extra. I believe your answer for IMAC only is the Yak but, with 50% 3D style flying in the mix, is your recommendation the same?

RE: New!! 150cc Yak 54 QB
butter...I have seen both fly and i would say they are equally as capable of doing what you want them to do, when and how you want them to do it. Both planes I saw were AW planes and both powered by DA150's on canisters. one observation, the yak appeared to fly slower than the extra but then again it may have been an optical thing. I currently fly a 35% AW 260 and it will do both IMAC and 3D very well. I have ordered a 150cc YAK from AW and I am waiting for it to arrive, can hardly wait I heard this is one badass plane so we will see.

Thanks for the feed back. I really don't like the building side of the hobby, I recently met a pro builder at a local event flying his Carden Yak and I decided to spend the extra money to have him build me one. His was 37 lbs and had all direct drive servos installed on the control surfaces (no push rods, control horns or cables anywhere on the plane except the throttle).

I do not have pix yet, this would be the first plane I would own with them. I saw pictures in AMA's Model Avaition Magazine this summer with an article describing them. Pretty cool info. I have no direct (no pun intended) experience using them. I thought about it quite a bit. My 2c though, good news is, mechanical advantge is 1 to 1, bad news is mechanical advantage is 1 to 1. No mechanical advantage adjustment in the (no) linkage. -Dan
