RE: What was your first rc car??
I had a bunch of radio shack things but my first real rc was a duratrax evader bx. I ended up frying it's electronics (including a 14t motor and a decent esc) when I drove it out of radio range at the beach and it ended up in the gulf of mexico...

Have you ever run the RC10? LOL it is in more than MINT condition: Looks like it just came out of the box.

RE: What was your first rc car??
20 years ago: blackfoot, clod, rc-10t, traxxas hawk, hawk 2, bolink digger
always wanted a nitro r/c, just couldn't afford it......
20 years later, a "little" more mature: nitro rustler, 10 nitro sports (mostly "parts"), mugen prime 12 (resto project), 2 bolink pan cars (resto projects).
6 y/o son: rustler (electric)
7 y/o daughter: bandit
been having a ball with nitro....nice to finally have one

RE: What was your first rc car??
My first hobby grade R/C (if you can call it that) was a Futaba FX10. The 1st one went up in smoke before the body got painted. The guy at the hobby shop that built it ran the motor wires on top of the resitor so the insulation melted & shorted out the motor wires. The hobby shop replaced everything & within a month the second one started throwing dogbones like they were going out of style. I packed everything from springs to toilet paper in the outdrives to keep them in but as soon as I left the ground or hit a decent bump I'd have to hunt down at least one dogbone. I eventually bought a third one used but it had the same problem. When I couldn't get parts for them anymore I put them in the attic where they're still sitting in pieces.

My first real r/c was the t-maxx 3.3. Then I got the Ofna Ultra comp LX. Now I'm looking at getting a savage x 4.6. Also looking at getting a Losi eight or eight-t. Looking at maybe getting into racing.

RE: What was your first rc car??
My dad bought an original Tamiya Pumpkin off a garage sale for $20, really fun truck
Then I bought a Kyosho Ultima ST and my dad bought a Traxxas Rustler
Then later we got into the 1/18th scale, RC18T and Mini-T's
We also have a couple T-Maxx's and I have a Jato
We are starting to get into oval racing with RC10L3's, just bought some off ebay
For $20 I just picked up an original RC10 (gold chassis) today, I'll have some fun with that

In 1988 when I was 8 years old I had a Blackfoot original, and Radio Shack "Golden Arrow" buggy(which looked like a hornet).
In 1989 I got a Kyosho Raider ARR

A bunch of Tycos and then a Traxxas Hawk. That Hawk is still my all time favorite Christmas present. I drove it constantly, spent every penny I had on it, and it never broke! I must be a better driver now because all I do is break stuff. I still have all the old r/c's in a closet at my Dads house 1500 miles away.

RE: What was your first rc car??
If any of you guys remember Terminator 2...there was a part where they show the one guy's son that makes the chip that they're trying to destroy and he's driving an R/C monster truck with a custom paint job(or so it seemed) and that inspired me into saving up and getting my first hobby level R/C car. It was a Kyosho USA-1 electric kit. It took me about 10 hours to build it when I was 10 years old, man those were the good old days. After that I moved on to a few 1/10 electric AE buggies and then on to a Duratrax Maximum ST(not the greatest nitro experience for me lol). I then had purchased a Schumacher 1/10 with a TT .21 for those ridiculous speed runs. After that a terribly built T-Maxx was bought and that thing broke too easy...first editions were not like today's. Then I got into a 1/10 HPI SS touring car. Then a Revo 3.3 also was very weak and broke easily. Then I got my 1/8 scale 8ight T and it was awesome but since I no longer have time for R/C, I sold it I'll get back into it when something really cool is released not like these make a quick buck R/C vehicles that come out.

RE: What was your first rc car??
probally 1986 TYCO like 24th scale stock car 9.6 turbo. deffently was not porportional. then got into Tamiya. started with a frog I got used for $50 bucks as I remember then new road wizard kit and Blackfoot kit. still have them all. mostly in parts but prolly could be reasembled. the blackfoot was modified greatly. Thorp ball diff/dog bones, full BB, IMEX Clod tires, oil filled shocks, esc (futaba m111b or something like that), trinity 16t motor, aluminum bumpers and roll bar with the working KC lites, etc.... man this thread makes me want to dig the old truck out and put it back togather. Thanks for the memories.

When I was a kid I had some R/C toys but those don't really count, I didn't get "into" them until much later anyway.
