Default RE: My custom Rx hump pack

I was just wondering if I could do this, this morning. Using rechargable batteries in the stock battery box (4 AA's) and charge it the same as my hump pack. I don't have any fancy chargers though. just the one that came with the hump pack.

My hump pack by the way is a 400 mAh

I like this alot, however I am looking at the charger you use and that is a bit steep. Is there another wall charger that might be compatible? Something a bit less expensive?
I understand that the charger is expensive, but it's worth it in the end. The wall chargers will take forever and don't condition the pack properly unfortunately.

I can't help with the wall chargers as I don't use them.

400mAh? That's terrible...must not last very long.

You can certainly use (4) rechargeable batteries in the stock holder (get some good cells). That will last a lot longer, but the whole point is to use the 6volt setup in (5) cells. (4) cells will still be 4.8volts which will work just not nearly as well.

Hey go-to. I was wondering if you can show us a cheap charger that will work "good enough" to charge/discharge this battery pack?
OR will the stock hpi baja 5b charger work?
http://www.hpiracing.com/kitinfo/10600/
We can use a cheaper end charger to charge it and get that dis-charger in the above post.

Mr. Suitor, ThunderbirdJunkie uses this charger...albeit it's the older Duratrax-labeled version

Like the one the 5B pack has for charging? That's called a Tamiya style, and ya, it'll work.

Great Thread...

Has anyone made a connector on the bat rec box, so that the batt does not need to be removed to be charged?...so that the car can just be plugged in to charge?....Seems like it would be a lot less wear and tear on the rec. and Batt. wires..etc....and just plain easier!

Get yourself a XL receiver box from ebay. Should cost next to nothing and it already has a built in charging jack on the side.

I think I'm gonna try this since this is my last week of classes, and I think I see what you're talking about with the lid. I doesn't come through to the outside of the lid does it, only a change inside? I'll be heading to the hardware store looking for a good iron. Can you show me the style tip that you used. Thanks!

Sure here are some pictures of everything.

so your still able to use the quick hook ups or what ever there called? the place where you can charge it w/o taking the lid off the box. also what would be a good cheap charger that i could use for this home made pack?

The pack holds it charge.. I dont know wh.. Maybe cause I mixed up the batteries.. some were charge and some were new.. and when i plugged it into my dynamite Prohpet.. it charged for 3 hours and started beeping... and it was hot..

I took it out to today to play so i could drain it a bit.. I plugged it back in and it charged for 30 minutes and it finished charging.. It wasn't hot after that..

I'll keep you guys posted on a full charge..
