Default Parkzone Cessna 210 centurion

I have Parkzones cessna and it is very cool but lately it seems to be lacking power and not climbing so is their a way to straighten out the motor and prop to give it more lift because they gave it like 30 degrees of down thrust. Also is their another battery that would fit in the cessna and give it more power?

Have you oiled the prop shaft bushings yet. If you have not it would probably help. I use a very light machine oil. I also run the gears dry with no lubricant. If the gear is dirty clean it with alcohol. If you have access to a tachometer check the speed. Anything much below 5600 RPM isn't going to fly very well. The maxim prop speed is about 6300 RPM.

Thank You Ched.

Has anyone been able to put a brushless in one of these?

There is a brushless setup for the parkzone micro planes but I haven't seen one in a cessna yet. It would be about 2 grams heavier. Look here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=896564

I have had this little bird a week now. It is one of my favorite planes to fly(only one not broken). While it is not aerobatic I can loop it with some down speed. Its very scale in its appearance while flying. It is pretty durable as well. I actually find myself getting up early just to fly this plane before the winds begin. I can fly it right outside where I live in a small area, no driving! I really am pleased with it so far...

WOW!
Greased the prop gear and it gave this plane TURBO! I can pull loop after loop from straight and level flight! Before I needed a bit of downspeed. I can even hold it inverted for a while. Never had such power before. Anyone considering one of these little birds should definately get one. I really enjoy flying mine. Even hit the grass in a full dive and did not cause any damage!

Boy I tell ya just when I get a good flying plane I like something goes wrong!
After a good 50 awesome flights on my PKZ cessna, I had a servo malfunction. I think the shaft that moves the servo tab connected to the rudder linkage stripped out. I called Product Support and they are going to replace it for me.
Might have to fold a paper airplane to keep me busy in the meantime...

When I first got a Cessna I tried different types of lube on the gears. I ended up using nothing on them. What type of grease did you use?

Servos are definitely the weak spot in these little planes, but the company seems to be pretty good about replacing them.

Oil the bushings on the prop shaft too! and.... when you crash make sure the shaft has not pushed back through the white gear. There is a spline that holds the white gear onto the shaft. If the spline moves back into the bushing, it will slow down or lock up the gearbox!

THANKS Ched. I do oil the prop shaft bushings. Great heads up on the shaft/bushing problem. Many people are not aware of this.

The information about the shaft moving back and locking to the bushing cant be repeated too often. It is more of a problem if it just slows down because people go ahead and try to fly the plane with the bushing spinning in the case. If you look at the shaft retainer and the back bushing and there is a gap or if the front bushing is partially out of the case you probably have the problem that Ched mentioned

Going through Cessna withdrawal waiting for my Micro to be returned to me from Horizon Hobby!
I have been looking and drooling over the new model coming out. Basically the same Micro only in a low wing with four channels and 10% more power!!
I am definately going to have to have one of these when they arrive. I can only imagine how much more fun it will be with ailerons and more power...

Anyone know if there is a small upgrade brushed motor for it. I like mine but it definitely needs a little more power. I do not want to do the brushless upgrade.
Aviator, I have not seen the new plane that is coming out. Do you have a link to it? Or the name of it? the funny thing is, my Vapor will do loops much easier than my Cessna 210 centurion

Sure do. Not much info last time I was there. I found a full page ad for it in Backyard Flyer Magazine. Paid $7 bucks for the stupid magazine cuzz of the Super Hot Chick on the cover holding the new PKZ Corsair.

Thanks, But I couldn't find it on that site. But I really did like the Minium AD Piper Cherokee, but way too expensive. I did also notice how the prop and shaft are not as angled as the Cessna 210 centurion. I wonder how it affects the flight characteristics.

The micro-cessna will do inverted flight quite nicely. Here's the trick. As you apex a loop, reverse your elevator. To turn instead of a bit of back ele in the bank put in a little up ele. When you are over inverted flight, just do a standard turn and it will roll.

ferndale, thanks for that tip. I will try it when this storm blows over.

So no one knows of a brushed motor that would be a slight upgrade to this plane. eh?

Here is a motor that has been used with the ParkZone brick. Give Bob a call and see if he thinks it would help you.

GOT MINE BACK TODAY!
They sent me back a new one. Must have been getting a lot of em back with burned out stuff from hooking up the Lipo backwards cuzz the plug on coming outta the plane is different! You can only plug in the Lipo one way now. Hoping they beefed up my servo's too. Was a long wait to get this baby back. They did me right and just sent me a whole new plane. God Bless Em!
