Parkzone Ember repairs
Does anyone know if there is a way to replace the shaft that the large gear runs on. I was letting my 8 year old son learn how to fly on it and he crashed and broke the shaft. The piece that broke off is still sticking out of the prop. I know I can get the gear assembly with motor for around $15.99, but I really don't need the whole thing.

Hi Wheelnut,
The stock shaft has a knurled spot on where the big gear (spur gear) is press fit onto. You could try finding a peice of steel wire thats the same diamter, or maybe just a hair bigger to get a tight fit. Otherwise, if you've got some CF rod the same diamter of the stock shaft, that would work too, and wouldnt need to be knurl since the CF and spur gear will CA together quite well. The stock shaft diameter is around .035 inches / .95mm (measured from the ID of the brass bushings on the gearbox...cant find my broken shaft at the moment).

Just now saw your posting.
See if you can find someone that has a Vapor model. Look at the shaft and see if it will work on the Ember (I am betting that it will). It may be a little longer, but that shouldnt be a problem. They sell the Vapor gear and TWO shafts for about six dollars. You will have to use your gear I think.

RE: Parkzone Ember repairs
Thanks guys,
I went ahead and ordered the whole gearbox with motor. That way I will have an extra motor if and when I wear it out. The old gear box had to be cut off the carbon fiber rod/fusulage and the new one was glued back on.
The ember shaft is no where near as easy to get off as the Vapor. The vapor gear and shaft is held on by a soft retainer. The ember shaft and gear is held on by a collet that is pressed on. I used a small pinion/gear puller to get it off.
