there BAD, there not made to filter fine dust that our motors are most effected by, yes they will provide less restriction, but they ingest ALOT of dust and reduce the life of your motor

chek the glow battery, the tune, and sometimes it helps to have the throttle up, air filter needs to be cleaned, put some after run oil in where the glow plug goes and pull the string a few times

HUGE difference. One is ABN the CV-RX is ABC. Its ported differently and leads to way more power and better tune.

RE: Official Nitro Evader ST Thread v2.0
hey guys.. im new on this forum but not to rc universe.. just bought a nitro evader off of ebay. came with 3 bodies, extra tranny and new motor for 100 bucks shipped.. got it home and clened it up, took motot apart to clean and inspect.. it has AFO that was gettin a little gummy.. motor looks brnad new inside and out.. runs great.. i noticed that it has a metal spur gear on it also.. i ran the truck and noticed that the differential was slipping and sounded ruff.. so i had a new diff rebuild kit on hand (from having an electric evader) took the tranny apart and WOW ALL METAL GEARS!!! what luck!! even has a metal idle gear in it.. so i rebuild the diff and reassembled the truck.. its raining today so no luck on giving it a test run!! i also ported the manifold a little bit... boy it is quick.. what is the stock clutchbell size??? well i gotta say for 100 bucks i got a great deal.. it also came with a bunch of extra parts including a set of road rage tires and chrome rims.. anything else i need to do to TUFFEN this little truck up?

i think everyone is using the aluminum t maxx clutch shoes.. steel shoes would wear the clutchbell out i would think.. i also have a solution to the stock dtx .18 motor.. everyone complains about the sleeve being ABN and not ABC whoch is better and last a lot longer.. i found the solution.. if you get a piston and sleeve for a aquacraft .18 motor (miss vegas boat made by aquacraft) it is the same sleeve as the dtx sleeve but is ABC.. has the same port timings, bboth engines use the same block, heads, bearings, crank, and have the same crankcase.. is 33 bucks from tower hobbies.. i know this because i own a miss vegas boat and both engines are made by o.s... if you port the crankcase, and do a few other simple mods you dtx engine will flat out fly.. no joke.. i got almost 8 mph more speed out of my boat with these mods..

RE: Official Nitro Evader ST Thread v2.0
well i ported my stock dtx .18 motor.. WOW.. this little motor is dynamite now.. there are 4 mods to do to the engine and it will absolutely rip.. the mods are mostly done to the ports in the crankcase(not the sleeve) the transfer ports at the bottom have metal casting that is restrictive, remove it and smoothe things out, then the exhaust port height on the block is a little too low, cut it higher so that the aluminum on the block is higher than the exhaust port on the sleeve, then take the rod and knife edge both sides of it, then next you can port the exhaust header also.. now this little motor has power right off of idle and all of a sudden it rips wide open slinging dirt and rocks everywhere.. now i need to gear it higher because it just rips the tires loose in a split second.. you can actually hear and see the truck get on the pipe (or hit its powerband) you should try it, you will be surprised.. when the stock nickle sleeve wears out you can replace it with the sleeve from a aquacraft .18 motor which is an ABC cylinder and piston.. they are the same exact thing as far as size and port layout.. its only 33 bucks from tower hobbies..
