RE: Area 51 engines
Nobert..
I like that.. but I'm using a vinyl cutter, (I'm not an expert with it) If I cut the flags in vinyl, I would spend to much time weeding them. But I like the flags so maybe I'l give it a test cut...Also I want to work with one color.
Maybe drop the flags ,, and ad Milton's web page addy under the "AREA"
The one Milton posted above ,, is a test cut of vinyl..... I did
things that can be changed,
1. leave the www off so it would read RCEXTREMEPOWER.COM
2. AREA 51 ,, Font ,,,,

RE: Area 51 engines
Ok guys I'll work on it .
We must remember we are designing a logo for the whole range not just the 51 it needs to be fairly simple as well.

RE: Area 51 engines
Joe - good looking install!!
Surprised to see you using the standard short "arm" that is on the throttle shaft.
I have always found that short one to be far too sensitive to movements for my taste. Over the engines I've done, I've come to appreciate the 3/4" arm (Hitec Blue aluminum) distance on both the servo arm and the throttle shaft. That usually permits +- 90 ATV on my JR, if I do one end at 5/8", it's 100/100, stop to stop. I do that because it gives me much finer control of the bottom of the carb movement where a click is way too much. Plus, better control of the idle using the trim lever.
That is a good looking installation, for sure!

RE: Area 51 engines
Those look pretty good... but... isn't the name of the business "RC Extreme Power", selling "Area 51" (brand) engines??? Minor details, I know... but wonder what would be best? Are we promoting the brand or the business?
Milton your thoughts??

RE: Area 51 engines
I have to go out right now but a little later I will post a picture using the arms that I use, I think I will just start putting them on the engines before I ship, I have had a couple other people to break the screws while trying to remove, They have some hind of loctite on them.
The arms are a little longer to give better throttle control.

I drilled a new hole on the servo arm very close to the servo shaft and it actually works pretty well.

Here is a very bad picture on my linkage, its using one of the HiTech adjustable servo arms, with an additional bolt through the short arm hole.
It the slot allows you ro make some adjustments on the length.

RE: Area 51 engines
I'd use that sprial wrap Milton gave you for your spark plug wire. Also I'd put some little zip ties on all your tygon connections
The plug lead is usually cable tied to the stand offs. Never thought of using the Spiral wrap for that, will give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion.

RE: Area 51 engines
I Like it!! Personally I would make one that covers the line Area Engines, then I would put a tag line under the logo for all advertizing and boxes etc. The logo would be just Area Engines and the graphic of the alien under it for vinyls but the tag line would be on everything else.
That way you have a logo that works for the entire line not just one engine. Under the logo would be the tag line in a different script.
Runs like its from another world
Just a thought

RE: Area 51 engines
Nice tag line but maybe shorter? Funny how peoples attentions shortens to what the eye can catch.
How about the above logo with a half circle below the whole thing that says RCEXTREME Power.com with some tricked out emphasis on the word Extreme?
Just my thoughts.

RE: Area 51 engines
Remember vinyl cutting in layers and colors is needed to do those sorts of things, and that adds $$$ and time.
Plus, from one who has BTDT, the more complex lettering/shapes, the exponentially-more difficult a good install of the graphics becomes.
My vote is for KISS - keep it simple, straightforward, enough to prompt questions...

RE: Area 51 engines
No question on the vinyls. I do some work with a vinyl company and the logo should be straight up simple. For the logo I like Area Engines with the alien as it is simple and doesn't need to be changed for the 102s. The tag line and anything else would be used in print adds and box covers etc.
