Default Plans/Drawings needed: WACO

Need to find WACO QCF-2 or UBF-2 drawings/detailed three-view or plans.
I've checked the year 2000 Bob Pond Catalog, no F-2's. Where else should I look?
Thanks for the help.

Default Plans/Drawings needed: WACO

Sorry to plead ignorance as to Waco, but got a similar question about a year ago. Fellow was then looking for military version of Waco A/C. He found 1/5 and 1/4 scale plans of the SRE and model D at Orbit Electronics in Texas. These were done back in the 1970's and are pretty fair as to details for construction.

Not that familiar with Waco. However, e:mail [email protected] and wait about two weeks for an answer.

You can get an Excel file from him which explains all the Effinger plans available.

Default WACO

Contact Claude McCullough who has done several military birdcage WACO's over time. Email Stan Alexander at the NASA web site to get Claude's address or write Mike Gretz for it at SIG.

Default Flyorbit

Was looking for WACO D plans and gave up on Flyorbit due to unresponsiveness, although I knew they supposingly had them two yrs. ago. Went to Cleveland Models and bought a blown up rubber plan for the WACO D at 1/4 scale. A lot more work involved to convert rubber construction to gas but well along with project.

Default Plans/Drawings needed: WACO

John,

Contact Bob or Brent Taylor at Antique Airplane Association phone 641-938-2773 or [email protected] . There was a guy that built a homebuilt F-2 from drawings that he got from Smithsonian. They got all of Waco's drawing files when they shut their doors. Anyway this guy owns a fantastic black F-2.
Forget getting the drawings from Smithsonian, unless you have several years to do it in, they make it almost imposable to get with the hoops they make you jump through. I have quite a few YMF-5 drawings but took a break from their BS.
Anyway ask Bob or Brent who the guy is and how to contact him, I'm sure they will be glad to help you out.

Al

Default WACO Classic Resources

The current manufacturer (licensed) of Weaver aircraft is the WACO Classic Aircraft Company. They do not manufacture the WACO QCF-2 or UBF-2 but should be able to assist in resolving your search for resources. They currently own the rights to the Weaver designs.

Don't believe Don Kettles is still associated with WACO Classic's new owner, but it won't hurt to ask. Don was fantastic in my search for documentation on my YMF-5.

I mentioned Stan Alexander in a previous post. He will have Claude McCullough's telephone number and address. Claude built a beautiful Brazilian Birdcage WACO and competed at the NATs...I believe he won Designer Scale with it.

Did you ever find scale plans for the QCF-2?

If it were me...I'd be getting in touch with Claude McCullough via way of SIG and Mike Gretz. That's where you are going to find some accurate drawings and docs. It appears to be a wee bit more short coupled then the YMF. Maybe just an illusion...you think?

The Claude McCullough WACO model was the model D military and quite different from the WACO which is the subject of this thread. Attached are images of the civilian version of the WACO D, the S3HD and also Richard Crap's (UK) rendition of McCullough's D model which was made from McCullough's plans and molds and entered in the 2002 World's competition at Tilsonberg, Canada. Finally, the front cover of a 2002 AMA magazine showing Claude McCullough with his WACO D model!

I am aware of Claude's D model...considering I spent a week with it at the NATs.

However, knowing Claude's extensive documentation library, I thought contacting Claude might contribute to the discovery of drawings, if not outright plans for the QCF-2. Excuse my attempt to be of assistance...I am painfully reminded...I am often too helpful... Is this really what RCU has sunken to? My, my...what a shame!

Wll excuse me as I also was trying to be helpful and thought there was some confusion of WACO models from one reply to the next and what McCullough had built and not built.
In any case, probably doesn't make much difference at this point because the original thread with request is outdated as was started a year ago or more!

John, I am working on the plan sheets for the F-2 using Corel Draw. I have the cut file's for the parts and hope to have the building plans completed soon. I will then have them printed out. Don't know if I want to be greedy and sell them or just share them as there are none available for this model.

John, I have a three view from Weaver Aircraft Co. of the UBF-2 but, I can't seem to show it here, if you would like to see it send me your email and I will send it. I also have many picture's of the QCF & UBF taken at the Creve Coeur Airport in Ohio by a friend who spent a lot of time taking pictures for me. I can also send you copies of the pictures if you would like. He took many close up pics that would give you a lot of info. Why can't I post pictures here? I don't have a URL for what I have on CD's, DUMB!!!

Bob

John, I have a 37 page WACO model UBF drawing list dated March 17, 1932 by R.W. Gibson, Chief Draftsman, The Waco Aircraft Co. Troy, Ohio. If you are interested let me know.

According to his profile he has not logged in to RCU since November of 2015 so, my guess, he has moved on.
