The Tamiya Mini Cooper '94 (M03) or the Subaru Impreza '07 (TT-01)?
I have a 1/8 Nitro RC buggy (OFNA Raveger) and it's lots of fun BUT.... it's so loud that I cant use it in my buildings parking lot and every time I use it something breaks or get lost, typical nitro.
Now I want a 1/10 Electric RC and somehow I started liking the [link=http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/rc-tamiya-mini-cooper-monte-carlo-wesc-57736-p-24294.html?cPath=420_1167]'94 Mini Cooper Monte Carlo[/link]. It look fun, in expensive and agile with the FWD.
Then I saw the [link=http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/rc-tamiya-impreza-tt01-wesc-58390-p-24616.html?cPath=420_1167]'07 Subaru Impreza w/ LED lights[/link] and that one looks more hard core or manly haha I've learned its a TT-01 chassis, which has been around for a while, and its 4WD. It doesn't come with bearings but the M03 Mini doesn't either and it's not RTR but buying the missing items should not much more and painting it should be fun.
Which do you guys recommend for some one who intends to use it in the parking lot of a building, part of which is under ground (very cool for a set of LED lights). I admit I'm the type of guy who often regrets not doing it right from the beginning since I've been known to get a less expensive model and with time I stat buying better parts. I don't intend to race just to have a cool, realistic, fun with a quiet RC.

Rookie question... is the Nismo a regular TT-01 chassis with a different body?
It looks good in the 350 body but I like better the "Off Road" look of the Subaru Impreza, even though I'm just gona use it on smooth dry ground.
I don't intend for any one to tell necessarily which one to choose but if you guys know if unexpected expenses or problems with either model (Mini or Impreza) I'd like to benefit from you experience.

scale modeling is self explanatory, you mentioned a vehicle for on-road parking lot- garage bashing. the option is you can use what ever vehicle you like - goodluck.

well since you ask, the TT-01 are pretty basic RC's, and for a little more you can get a TB-01/02, TA-04, etc..
ive had the TT-01 and the M-03 and didnt really like either, the Mini although being 1/10 scale, is quite a bit smaller than a usual 1/10 and looked a bit silly, though it did cope with Mamba power well, so its definately durable.
the only problem is, the model below almost never come with rally bodyshell, but that is sortable for 20-30$

the TT-01 will need upgrades for any higher power motor, aluminium driveshaft, metal motor mount.. the Mini wont need any though.

Good to know. Unless you guys tell me different, I intend to keep the factory 540 but use 3,000 - 3,600 mAh batteries.

i think you'll get bored of the stock 540 quite quick, but the Sport Tune is a cheap hop up, failing that, brushless systems are becoming cheaper and cheaper..

For the looks i would go for the Mini,as i am a bit tired of the Subaru. Here in Norway the Subaru isnt called Impreza, its called Petter Solberg-car,almost nobody knows the car's real name. Also for the driving experience i would have gone for the Mini, looks like a fun car to drive, even if its front wheel drive.I have just built the Alfa Romeo M-04 now, this is an rwd and a blast to drive

I have the M04, TT-01, TB-02 and plan on getting a TRF415 or 416 soon. The TB-02 is the better platform out of the 3, the M series are nice but I find that the selection of bodies suck and the cost of them are high because not many have the M series. I've got 3 1/10 scale chasis and 5 bodies which I swap out depending on what I want to do.

The M series are based on the older TL-01 chassis so the TT-01, even as old as it is, is still the better chassis. I prefer the bathtub chassis which protects the batteries, especially if you're going to use lipo in the future. The minimum upgrades I'd get for it are full ball bearings and an aluminum shaft, that's an extra $20 or so (not based on the best bearings but still better than bushings).

ORIGINAL: thaphillips
Get the TA-05 and if you decide to race later, well it's a good racer!

out of the box, it is more adjustable than the tt-01, and handles a helluva lot better.
The hop-ups are a real help, for later on down the line, it makes it able to take stupidly powerful motors (mine had a 5.5T novak motor in and it was fine)

Ok so when I make my order which most likely will be a TT-01 chassis with a Subaru Legazy 07 body & LEDs, already I'm thinking of doing it right from the start (within my budget). I'll make the order with a set of bearing, two 3,600 batteries and the Tamiya tuned 540 motor.
Which pinion do you guys recommend? I see their not expensive and like a car I bet the higher ration makes a noticeable difference.
