Hey guys. I'll be getting a new computer soon, a custom one.... I've no experience with custom ones so I need a little help
I've basicly made two computers to my liking and already made a thread about one of them and have had good feedback about it.....
But then came along AMD.
So now I'm stuck with which one to get. I can save a nice bit of money if i go with the AMD one, so it means for the same price I can have a few upgrades on things like CPU heat sinks ect.

Below I have the specs of both computers, there pretty much the same except the processors and the AMD has a few better options..
So would I be ok with the AMD rather than the Intel? I will be moderate gaming, playing crysis and the half life series... I'm not looking for the best spec computer possible, just something that will run the games smoothly with nice graphics.

As you can see the AMD is cheaper, but is that a bad thing?

The intel processor you have selected would be a lot better at gaming and multi tasking. It is running 4 cores at 2.4 ghz which equals about 9.6ghz. The amd is only a dual core running at 3 ghz each. So that would only be 6 ghz of power...

So what is a standard operting system back up and how much that costing you? Also do you really need unlimited License for open office cause im sure that costing you something? And i thought open office was free on the internet?

Just a few ideas to maybe save you a few dollars...

open office was already selected, so free. Is the Intel worth the extra money???? I read somewhere that there not much these days that make the most of quad core.

4 cores at 2.4ghz does not equal 9.6ghz.

All that means is you will be able to multitask (run multiple programs) a lot easier since the majority of software does not multithread.

I'm torn between the two I want quad core but if i can save such a big amount of money O_O.... But maybe the money can be saved somewhere else on it?

AMD run hotter which will mean a shorter life span in the long run.

Get the smallest SATA II drive you can for your operating system & programs. I have a 40GB just for that and I store everything else on different drives.

I hope you aren't being charged for OpenOffice 2.4.1 (Unlimited PC License) since it is an open source program.

What's wrong with your current monitor, keyboad and mouse? If you want to save money then reuse the one you are using now.

Why an overclocked video card? overclocking = heat = shorter life span.

My current monitor is 17", I'm looking to upgrade it, so 22" is a treat for me. Current key board - I love it. Cant find one with the same volume control ect, but its filthy..... I might just take the keys off and clean it though. The mouse.... I dont really know, A new mouse isnt much - a faster one would be nice.

So you say I shouldn't get the over clocked? That means that I will have to drop from a gig to half a gig.... What do you think? Or spend an extra £26 and still get half a gig but its the "Gtx" opposed to the GT O_O

A factory overclocked card is fine, as long as it has a warrenty like BFG's, they will replace it not matter what.

I have never heard of that manufacturer though.

Hey, what if I could get a AMD quad core system which is still cheper, u think it would be the better option?
