I know Bryan has used some small wedges (like the ones used to square up a door) to angle the gear down a little bit. Also, what size tires are you using? From what I understand they're running 2.75 or 3.00 inch tires. I know the clearance is pretty close with 18" props, but you shouldn't have had any trouble with a 16.5.

I WAS RUNNING AN 18/10 PROP ,IT WAS TRIMMING THE LAWN A LITTLE ,SO I WENT TO A 17/12 AND I GET THE CLEARENCE I NEED AND I PREFER THE PERFORMANCE OF THAT SETUP.I'M NOW READY TO PAINT #2 SINCE I DORKED #1 SHINDEN.i'M STILL LOOKING FOR A RIGHT WING PANEL.BVM SAYS THEY ARE DONE IMPORTING FROM THE SUPPLIER,TOO MANY PROBLEMS.IF THIS INFORMATION HAS CHANGED DO LET ME KNOW.I LIKE BVM THEY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN GREAT TO WORK WITH,BUT IF THEIR SUPPLIER HAS A PROBLEM,THEN IT LOOKS BAD FOR AN OTHERWISE TOP NOTCH COMPANY.DID I LEAVE LIPSTICK BEHIND WHEN I WAS KISSING THEIR BACKSIDE?

RE: Shinden Build
My understanding is that BVM is getting out of the prop-airplane business and going back to just focusing on jets. What do you need another wing panel for? Was the one on your second one damaged? You might try contacting Extreme composites to see if they will work with you.

RE: Shinden Build
Wedges under the gear helped a bunch! I put 1/4" thick plywood wedge under the end of each gear inside the fuselage and I got about 2" more prop clearence than before. thanks for the suggestion.

RE: Shinden Build
Does anyone beef up the gear mount plate? It sure looks low strength compared to the impact forces I'll be putting on 'em. Ya know, those full stall landings about 3 feet above the ground!

RE: Shinden Build
The gear plate in this airplane is plenty strong. The only damaged one I have seen was damaged in a crash in which the landing gear took the brunt of the impact. We have 4-5 Shindens in our club flying off a fairly rough grass runway, and we've never had one damaged from landing. Then again, most of them don't land at full stall 3 feet from the ground.

RE: Shinden Build
Thanks for the info on the strength of the gear plate I'm bolting in my tall-tall bolly gear directly. Since I am doing an electric with 20inch prop, the stock gear just wouldn't do.
Dave yes it is me. If you remember, I was calling for you on that flight, waiting on the runway-side of the safety fence for the pickup. I saw that 25kt crosswind gust acelerate your Shinden right at me, I dodged and let the fence take it. It was terrible.

You can go to [link]http://www.xtremecomposite.com[/link], there's an information e-mail link on the first page that pops up. They also have a parts price list on the site, but from what I understand getting them to ship to the US may be difficult.

RE: Shinden Build
Jon,
I am interested but a little confused! When you say I am selling just the fuse with Hyde mount do you mean just the fuse or just the airframe (fuse, stabs, wings)? I assume because it has a hyde mount it was set up for glow? Was it flown glow? Is it still possible to set it up to be an electric?
Thanks
Anthony
One other question; where are you located?

DAVE
It hasn't flown yet, I'm waiting for some of the carbon fiber/balsa sandwich material to mount the batteries on, and I got to figure out a way to get cooling air to everything.
These electrics are a pain in the arse.

RE: Shinden Build
I've noticed a slight wobble in the stab. It's not very noticable and doesn't seem to be getting worse. I wonder if anyone else has seen this and if I need to glue in the front stab tube to stabilize it.

RE: Shinden Build
I used thin CA glue to hold mine on. Before I glued the stabs I
had a problem with them moving out of place.
Ask Bryan Hebert how he did it. His are holding without the glue.
