Vin,

Nice and intimidating MIG 21 . I guess we A7 drivers must now check our six!

Florent - make sure you get your AIM9s ready on your A7. We are small so these MIGs are not going to find us as long as we fly over the banana tree top.

I will weigh the parts today and post it. I plan on using a standard P120 in mine but it may end up with a 120sx by the time it flys.

Hi Vin,

Bob has run a 120SX, you should talk to him, I have never heard him rave about a turbine like this P-120SX, seriously

Come on Uncle Joe.... if we were talking about your camera equipment the shoe would be on the other foot. LOL

Joe,
I hope things are going well for you; I look forward to seeing you at a future jet meet.

OK you two, the a/c is at the assembler's so you guys can settle down!!!!

It should be a really great build; it's a beautiful jet and I'm gonna make it at least as nice on the inside as it is on the outside. Fortunately, Vin DOES buy green bananas and did NOT attend the Stalin School of Motivation Techniques. We will all see it fly at the Desert Jet Storm (at the absolute latest) if not earlier.

Thanks Vin, you'll love it!!! Regards,

Jim

Jim,

The beatings will continue until the moral improves!.............I can't wait to see that Fishbed taxiing out!

Be very cautious though if Vin asks you for a "sit down" in the back room of some pizza joint!

Are you going to do a "build" thread?..SAY YES

Tailwinds,

John

LOL, I figured that part out on my own today when I saw the Sopranos memorabilia in Vin's office.

The jet made it to the it's build hanger all safe and sound and the build has officially started; I assembled the jet and have it sitting on the gear. I went through all of the bits and pieces and things seem quite complete. Overall, the jet looks very good and the wings slid on easily and the front/rear fuselage bolts were well aligned. The cockpit tub package also had a glareshield for the instrument panel. The main gear seems very solid. The flying stabs are unique in that the root has a square notch to fit the fuselage and this will prevent the stabs from rotating unless a HUGE gap is provided. It looks like some re-engineering is required but I'll check out some closeup pics of the full-scale first to make sure I get it right.

As for the build thread, I'll get back to you on that one. In the meantime, here are some photos of the assembled Fishbed!!!!! It looks B*TCHIN, especially with the speedbrakes out. The green trim, particularly on the inlet shock cone is 'da bomb! Great color scheme choice Vin.

Regards,

Jim

Mean machine....[:@]

John,
I just noticed how close the main doors are to each other in the open position. They will hit the belly tank?? I have to look at how the full size one is positioned.

Vin, I don't think so. The pylon drops the tank down enough to clear them.

The main gear on the fullsize is rotating (the wheels are staying vertical during retracting)when they are going up and the gear doors are smaller. That`s why the fullsize can have the droptank between the doors.

I see the a/c has 9 kills ? Might you have any info on the actual a/c ? .To me, if it had Vietnamese markings it could be the infamous Col.Tomb

The VPAAF would have one jet with all of the regiments kills on it.
