Squirt 700 brushless motor
I am building a Stevens Aeromodels Squirt 700 and am new to electrics. I was wondering if there is a brushless alternative to the speed 700 motor.
It seems as though the speed 700 is becoming rare. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

That plane claims an approximate 2- 2.5lbs AUW.
That puts it in the .25 range of glow powered planes.
In turn that means you would be safe with a .15 to .25 equivalent motor.

Would produce about 190watts/lb making that little plane into a rocket!
Whereas something like this: [link=http://www.nitroplanes.com/mo159brmo.html]15 motor[/link]
Would produce about 170 watts/lb which would still give it plenty of power.
You will need to be sure to purchase a suitable ESC and prop the plane correctly.

I am not knocking this .25 motor, but I think Nitroplanes are a bit over the top with a "review" by a "Pro" suggesting that it is the equivalent of the finest German craftsmanship ("Mercedes-class machine work"!) - it is a typical mass produced Chinese motor... re-branded with any name you care to give... just like this Turnigy.

And there is nothing wrong with either.
I've had good luck with both, but yeah reviews like that quickly loose credence.
Often this is the result of Asian marketing techniques being translated and used in english.
They really need to learn that we are far more skeptical, and a bit Jaded.

Thanks for the info! There sure is alot of choices and combinations to electric power.
I have been building and flying spads for about a year and decided to build a kit and go electric. I am sure I will have more questions.

"Caveat emptor" is good advice when one sees inflated claims of "quality" and "98% efficiency" from some of these manufacturers and distributors [figures do not lie, but often these guys never produce any that are worth a damn... so you need to get reliable real world information before making a decision to buy!].
