Fast drying glue for plywood door skins?
Hello,
I'm going to build a pair of gas-powered seaplanes this winter for a buddy and I. I'll be using plywood door skins in a lot of it and am wondering if there is a glue that will set in 1-2 hours and be strong yet semi-flexible. I think Gorilla glue would be great but it takes hours to expand and set. I've tried "Tacky" in the past but it didn't set fast enough. CA doesn't seem to stick or penetrate well and epoxy seems brittle and expensive. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks,
Doug

I've used the Titebond II glue. It sets a joint within a few minutes but doesn't get full strength for several hours

Water resistant wood glue (Titebond, Elmers) cheap...
hot-melt glue for wood??
fast-set urethane ("Gorilla") type glue is available now as well, more expensive than epoxy I think.
Personally, I'd use epoxy. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXK302&P=SM

Aliphatic resin, otherwise known as cross linked PVA. Better water resistance than PVA and it doesn't 'creep' over time like PVA does, and it sets up in 20 - 40 minutes depending on temperature. Clean up is easy and its cheap. And its strong. I use little else except epoxy for joining wings and sticking firewalls in.

Thanks for the info!
I think I'll use Titebond II. It is available everywhere, is inexpensive and looks like the ideal glue.
Thanks again. I'll post some pics in the Seaplane forum when finished.
