RE: A123 power!!
well they are deff comparaible to me I would say a 2 cell lipo, good thing with a123 is you can charge them at like 4amps without any problem, and you can run them dead with no bad effects. I would highly reccomend the turingy accucell 6 which is only a 45 dollar charger

RE: A123 power!!
I thought about getting the Turingy but went with the Onyx 230 which has an integral power supply and is A123-compatible. The Onyx doesn't have a balancer, but supposedly balancing LiFe batteries isn't a huge concern.
I still haven't take the plunge and actually bought a LiFe battery so I'm reading this threads carefully and hope the comments keep coming. One reason why I haven't bought one is because of the low mah's for affordable LiFe batteries.

RE: A123 power!!
because the power curve on a a123 stays consistent while others (nimh, nicad) drop every second used.
yeah a123 is pricey, luckly I got my 2 cell packs for 5 bucks a piece, using the black and decker cells from the vpx power tool, and made two cell packs out of them
