RE: *New Hanger 9 Pulse XT 60*
I pick up my XT60 tomorrow. I think I'll go with the recommended electric set-up by E-Flite...Power 60/6S 5000 30C. Question: Will this set-up be on the low or high side of performance for this plane? Will it climb unlimited vertical out? Any better recommendations? I like to go with manufactures specs but noticed they can be a little under powered for my liking.

(will have to check on that). The batteries are warm after a hard flight, but not hot. With a little throttle management, the batteries remain cool.
Hope this helps a little.

You'll find it won't take long with this bird.

I am hoping this to be the case. I am really looking forward to flying this plane. I just finished an EFlite AT-6 Texan. Just enough scale detail to drive me crazy. I'm ready to put something together that almost falls together!! LOL!! I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

How many of you are using epoxy on the wing halves and the tail feathers instead of going with the manual and just bolting them together? I am really leaning towards the epoxy. What are the cons of this that I am not thinking of?

ImHooked,
I haven't had any issues with bolting the tail feathers and the wing on. I wouldn't be able to transport my Pulse 60 if the wing halves were epoxied together. My vehicle isn't that big. So for me, it's more convenient in two pieces. You might want to try bolting them on, because you can always change your mind later. Just my opinion.

I would epoxy the Fin/rudder + Stab/elevator. Those small bolts and lock nuts tend to loosen. Leave the wing as per the manual. It works just fine.

I believe this is what I'll do. I see no reason not to hard fix the tail sections. Flylower has a real point on transportation and storage reasons for the wing halves, so I believe I'll leave those as is until I see a need otherwise.
Thanks for the input.

RE: *New Hanger 9 Pulse XT 60*
I got my pulse on Christmas and have been itching to maiden it ever since, so because there is about a foot of snow still on the ground here, I decided to put a pair of skis on and go out to the field yesterday. It was an interesting first flight... I thought I had the motor tuned right but as soon as I lifted off the ground and started to point it up it lost all power! I was about 30 feet off the ground and about 100 yards out and had to make my first landing with the Pulse in the snow, with no power, and almost out of view! Luckily it was a perfect landing, just a long walk! So I had one of the veterans at the field help me figure out my engine problems and after about 30 minutes he concluded that there must be an obstruction in the fuel needle valve. So I blew some fuel through it backwards to purge out what ever was in there and sure enough we got it running right after that.
The second flight was also a hand full because it needed about 20 clicks of left trim and about 5 clicks of up elevator and in the process of trimming it almost got away from me and I lost orientation long enough to put it in a dive! I frantically threw the stick around to regain orientation and got her pulled out of the dive and flying straight and level.
After I got rid of the shakes I was able to play around and do some rolls and loops and nice landings. I wish I would have put the skis on a long time ago!
I have the mini pulse and I have to so that the 60 flies very much the same as it's little brother. This is my new favorite plane!

Thanks for sharing your successful, and eventfull flight with us. Can you tell me what kind of skis are you using?

I have a Saito 100 on my XT 60 turning a 14x8 APC prop but have thought about trying a 15x6. Any of you guys with the XT 60/Saito 100 combo tried a 15x6 APC prop? I am happy with the 14x8 just curious how it would fly with the 15x6.

Hey all:
I've been flying the 40-sized and the mini for three years. I have somewhere around 300-350 flights on the 40. It gets flown on every trip to the field. At first, I too was worried about not gluing the tail feathers and wings. But I've had no problems with either. I fly the 40 pretty aggressively except that I only do a few snap rolls here and there. Too many touch-n-go’s to count.
The only things I've had to replace on the 40 are the wheels (wore through two pair) and the cowling (the vibration from 300+ flights took its toll). I've been amazed by the durability of this plane. Because of this, I'm putting a 60 together this winter. I'll power it with an O.S. 91FX. I don't plan on gluing the wings and tail on this one either.
I'm not crazy about Horizon's price increases. I think $250 is a little steep for this plane. But, there are too many positives.
