I was just curious how many here got sick and tired of the headaches that come along with nitro and converted over to electric.. I am one of them!!

Yeah I pretty much have myself too. The nitros are a nightmare to get running and to keep running...It's a pain to haul around glow plug igniters, gas jug etc. Anyway I can't get rid of my baja5b though, the gas motor in it is alot more reliable, runs 45 min to a tank and gas is cheap for it

I think that more people are converting over now to, because of brusless and lipo technology. The electrics can be or are faster than nitros. I havn't had to do much maintenance on my electrics besides replace brushess and some gears. I spend a lot less time working on them compared to the nitro stuff, that means more play time

I'm actually thinking of going the other way after spending the day with a friend who has an old rcgt10. Both sets of my batts were spent and he kept his truggy going for about an hour while I sat around and watched. It's a tradeoff - Brushless w/lipos are not cheap, nitro maintenance is not fun but runtimes are starting to appeal to me.

With a few xtra batteries and a real good charger, runtimes don't seem to be a issue for me. I do miss the noise of a nitro though!!!

yes it is a trade off ,, my opinion is if your going to run a engine its got to be a gasser as in two stroke , nitro is a pain to keep running , . were as the gasser need little maintenance. . but i also love brushles power ,

actually melon peel you can get a 2 cell 3000mah lipo pack now for the same price of 1 gallon of nitro fuel online, I recently bought two from japan in a hard shell case for 60 bucks shipped to my door, and they are working just fine

The basher crowd went this route long ago. Only a matter of time till the Racers start to come to the Bright Side. Once Drake and other Pros win a few races using converted 8th scales... we'll see even more of them. Even AE got on the bandwagon:

I seen that RC8E running at OCRC in Hunington Beach, California.

I went from nitro (got it used, engine had an air leak and was almost impossible to start, then when it was running it only ran good at 280) so I moved to electric. I had to go 2 hours to race so I went back to nitro where the track is only 45 minutes away! Now I have an 8ight and I love it!!! nitros really arent that hard to start. Prime it, then push down on the bump box and it should start almost right away! If you cant get it started heat it with a hair dryer.

LOL, It is a pain to handle around glow plug igniters and fuel? Just keep it on pit road and you should be fine!!

Just pull the hair dryer out of my pocket so I can heat up the motor, and then bump it on the box that I'm holding in my other hand, right?

I would have never bought a car if lipo and brushless were not available. The same with my 450 heli. Nitro always looked like a pain in the ace, so I never got into it. Now the prices on electrics is reasonable.

I swithched from electric to nitro about 10 years ago, and then back to electric 5 years ago. I would puke if i tallied up the amount of money i spent in my 5 year nitro period. But i did have a riot with the nitro. Brushless and lipo is the way to go nowadays.

One good thing about the electric ruling rc is that sooner or later the nitro engine companies are going to have to eventually design better engines. Nitro engines havent changed in design in a long long time. All they have done is worked them to get more power out of them, which only results in less life.

I for one would like to see a line of 4 stroke rc engines for land use. Oil filled crankcase and spark plug. I am not talking about the weedwacker engine line either, but same concept. I think this is wishfull thinking though.

I stated in electric ( tamiya falcon list of losi's)and when run times and batteries were a problem , I went to nitro, ( nitro hawk, a few t maxxes, savage, muggy, nxt, losi 8T).

I got tired or haveing all the batts to keep up on, tuning nitro's, never having the same fuel at the LHS. So I feel like I took a big step back on the RC I went with a rustler vxl (only a step back because the 8T was pretty sweet) with a 3s 5000 mah batt. Just testing the waters here.....

oh no i'm going backwards!!
i'm swapping my rustler VXL (with mamba) for a nitro revo and many parts/upgrades.

then i'll have 2 revo's, one is an E-revo in the making and the other will be nitro for a while untill i get my E-revo conversion going.

just needed something that would work for spares and tye me over untill i get my E-revo going

I run nitro and electric. I personally prefer the nitro because there is no charging or waiting. and I am a motorhead so keeping them running is no problem for me. the only thing I like better about electric is the cleanliness.

i have no waiting on my battery!!
i get bored before it goes flat in the rustler
and nitro's still have hte RX pack that has to be charged!!
