I put a YS 1.60 in it that is currently running a 17" X 11.5" prop. I had to add 16 oz. of weight to the nose as it was still tail heavy.

I am working on the video side of it. Hopefully in the next week or so.

I have not started mine yet , but before you add any more weight , its your call but try dubro giant scale lightweight wheels in place of the KMP -super scale wheels , I do think it will make a differance .
I love the KMP wheels , but considering they retract aft of the CG , I will probably have to let them go [&o]

Hey guys

I have mine recently finished. I use SC180 Four stroke glow, and I have used robart wheels. (Plastic rims).
Unfortunately I have to load some weight as well in order to ballance at the 1/4 to 1/5 of the airfoil....I have put also a dummy engine with baffle, 1700 Mah NIMH batteries and digital servos for all the major channels used...
Here are some pics...

With the 170 she is of the deck (grass) in about 60', most of the flying is done with about 3/4 throttle, vertical she starts to run out of steam after about 180'- 200'. Slow and low fly by's are excellent, (does need an on board glow), last fly-by she dropped a cylinder, had just enough power to complete the circuit and land. Power, I would say much more would be unnecessary, a good combination.
I will sort a video out when the weather improves, we have another week of sub zero temperatures forecast again. I have just had her back from a friends who has kindly weathered her, she is looking real good. Photos to follow.

Has anyone had a problem with the fuel tank interfearing with the mounting of the wing? If so what fix did you do or did you just replace the tank with a smaller one. My tank sits below thw wing saddle at the back end of the tank and I cannot seat the wing properly. There is a step down in the tank at the rear but this does not help. HELP SOMEONE.

thanks BOB

I found the problem. I thought I measured the dowel holes correctly but I did not and that is what was stoping the wing to set properly. I have fixed it so on we go.

thanks BOB

Hi Darrell,

I e-mailed you several times to purchase a set of your retracts for the Corsair to no evail. Can you confirm if you're manufacturing the gear for the Corsair? If so how do I go about ordering a set?

The KMP retracts are rubbish, $300 lesson. To much slop, don't bother ordering them they'll only cause you trouble.

Just waiting for retracts that'll work then my bird is in the air. I have a set of retracts from Century Jet on the way now, will report once they arrive.

Will be running an OS200, test flight scheduled for March.

Jam.

Tisoy909,

I could not have said it better myself.

How many years are the ARF modelers going to accept poor quality in there retracts until they just say "Enough is Enough"
China is still in the 40's and 50's with their knowledge of manufacturing.
They may have some modern equipment, but just don't have the practical experience.

I would guess their designs are based more on the pricing, not the actual reliability.

..... Poor JamF4U [&o]

I made the same experiences with his majesty from sierra giant! Eight phonecalls, several emails with my c-card infos, promisses that the kmp corsair retracts are going to be shipped, tracking number was not available for some reason, and always bla bla bla bla bla on the phone ...... After three months I haven't received anything.
Unfortunately, the $600 that I wanted to spend for the retracts with additional scale parts, I recently invested in some fabulous retracts from a manufacturer back here in Germany. Those ones are so fantastic and full scale.

I recommend to look for another manufacturer like century or on the Germany market (HAWE-Modelltechnik) in order to get happy!

Have a nice weekend !

Century jet aren't too bad, they are a little loose feeling but so far have been solid. I have a set in a H9 Corsair and have about 20 flights on them so far. I fly with a few guys that love the KMP line up but say that the retracts leave a lot to be desired for the price. Most have gone with CJ or Sierra as a replacement.

I visited the Century Jet factory a couple of weeks ago because they made a set of retracts for my KMP Spitfire and the KMP Corsair retracts are beautiful and rugged looking. I have a smaller CJ setup on my Hanger 9 Corsair with about 80 flights and they have performed flawlessly. Mine only have some slop in them when they don't have air in them. Great price and performance combination.

Hi

Yes, they look pretty much the same. See the pics below! Those ones are especially manufactured for the KMP Corsair. HAWE is known for the best retracts nationwide...

If you want to call HAWE, just ask for Mr. Liseke, he made my ones and defenitely remembers them...

The retracts including tank, pipes, ventiles, and wheels were 382 Euro including VAT.

so check it out ;-)

By the way: For everybody who thinks about using the Saito 170 Radial for the KMP Corsair! It looks just great and Motor defenitely fits completely under the cowl still with a little space on the top of all three cyclinders...

Daniel, they look fantastic!

Do they ship with the oleos & wheels? The wheels look like Robarts (3 3/4" or 4"?)

Thanks

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! IT'S FINALLY HERE!

The KMP Corsair arrived Friday the 6th. So, for those of you that have these on order and have been waiting patiently like myself, should have a new arrival very sooooon!
I can tell you guys, this is one awesome looking arf. It came out of the box without a scratch or mark on it anywhere. Theres been enough pix of the unfinished model so I won't post any of those. CAN'T WAIT TO GET STARTED! Will post some pix as I get into the build. Already noticed one very important negative!

The manual is very poorly done. Looks like it was written in chinese and then translated into english by a chinese guy that doesn't know the english language worth a hoot! I called and spoke with Andrew about this and he said he is aware of the problem with the manual and is working to rectify it. They need to completely redo the manual with better illustrations and instructions. However, as we all know, this is NOT a beginner's Warbird. That's why this build forum will be so important to alot of us (including me).

Captainiron,
Did they fix the oil cooler holes in the wing or are they both still pointing to the same side?

GOOD QUESTION! They look correct to me. But! it's almost like an optical illusion. When I hold the wing center section one way, they look fine, but when I hold the center section at a differant angle they look like they're going in the opposite direction. So, It's not an issue for me. CAPTAIN RON
