RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread
I just got my Red Cat Volcano EPX Pro Brushless RTR on Feb 11th 2009 and it was working fine during that day. After about 20mins of in house run time (I was just testing and driving the truck slow in the house trying to get use to it) the truck started to act up by not responding to the transmitter as good, kept shaking and bouncing back and forth repeatedly fast like a car with a dying engine. I thought it was just the battery so I decided to fully charge and battery and call it a night. The next day, I power on both device (transmitter and truck seem to power up normally like yesterday) and now the truck will not respond to the transmitter at all anymore. I press and twist all buttons on transmitter already and still nothing. Only had the truck for 3 days now and only had the chance to drive it outside for 1 min because it was very cold and about 20mins inside the house on the first day. Please help. Thanks!
Truck specs: Brushless motor with Brushless ESC
Battery: 6cell 7.2v 2000mah
Charger: dynamite vision peak 2

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread
Someone in another thread was having the same problem. But he was using bigger batteries. His problem was the connectors. There was too much resistance. He threw some Dean connectors on there and the problem went away. I dont see how a 2000mah battery can give you a problem like this, but then again, I've read a lot of bad things about these brushless systems. Also hear that the stock radios themselves arent that great. I didnt take any chances with my Nitro so I ordered new servos and an extra Futaba FM receiver. Could be your crystals, make sure they arent loose. And look into some new connectors asap. You want Deans......

something has to light the glow plug, to spark the fuel and make it fire. Is this electric start like the TRaxxas electric start? If so then there should be a wire that plugs into the glow plug.

When you run too rich you'll get a build up in the exhaust. So even when your done running it'll tend to drip out. Mine usto do that. Then I leaned it out a bit. No biggie though. Just makes for a bigger mess later.

If i were you i woudl go to your local hobby shop and test fit them and see if they got some you like. if not tower hobbies has a lot of rims. You need some that have a 12mm hex. most should fit, but some may rub, so i would cruise around tower and then post the links to the ones you want to make sure they will fit. And what size were you lookin for? Cause stock they come with 2.8 inch rims and tires. It give a more low profile tire. But i like the 2.2 rims because you get more tire, and it looks more scale.
First pic is of my 2.2 rims and tires.
Second pics is comparing the stock volcano tires to my new ones. They are a little smaller in diameter. But something like the mashers, would be about the same size i think, and those are sick. I wanted those so bad, but ended up gettin these real cheap and i like em. But the mashers would have a big tire. like a real truck would, they look pretty sick.

I have a problem with my volcano sv, it cant seem to stay in idle,it has a 1mm opening in the carb i recently replace the carburetor i thought it was the problem, everytime i start the truck i have to adjust the throttle trim to high so that the truck would start...pls help i am getting frustrated with volcano sv :-)

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread
your problem is prolly with your lsn (low speed needle)...sounds rich to me...by opening your trim you are letting more air into the carb which in turn leans it out....of course this also depends on if you have your hsn (high speed needle) set correctly...I would make sure your high speed needle is at approx. 2 1/2 turn from all in....when tuning u need to set your hsn needle first...then u can work on the low...but u need to have it relatively close on both to get it to run then stay running...
if you put your hsn at 2 1/2 turns and your lsn flush with the collar with 1mm gap looking into the carb it should stay running long enuff to tune...if you look up in the sticky part of redcat suppport forum you will see a how to thread...in that thread is a video to help you better understand the carb and guides you to tune your engine....the settings I gave you are general settings that should get you started to be able to tune
