Phoenix 7 Pattern Ship kit- what engine
Hi Guys,
I love this forum, brings back some found memories of go fast apttern. One of mt all time favorites is the Phoenix 7 and I just found a kit real cheap on the auction site. I don't think anyone really knows what it is, so it is low priced.
What would be the engine of choice for the plane. I have a NIB Super Tigre G-60 Bluehead ABC Ring, would that be OK? I also have an OS 61 FSR NIB.
Thanks guys and keep up the great threads
Steve

Wow that is beautiful!!! How hard was it to set up for the rear exhaust engine? I have a brand new Hanno Special sitting on the shelf looking for a home. I also have a Webra 61 Long Stroke rear exhaust as well.

I would put the Hanno in, it's a bit of work but pattern planes are alot of work to build anyhow, what's a couple more hours.I had some I flew for over 10 years so I was happy I set them up the way I wanted to in the first place. captb

Hi Steve,
The ST bluehead or OS fsr would both be great (preferably with a tuned pipe. The upright Hanno will have the longchamber pipe sticking pretty far back, plus it would be overkill (if there is such a thing in a pattern plane). The Hanno wants a big enough prop to keep the rpms under 11,000 unloaded in the air (so a 12x10 is probably the minimum). How much prop clearance do you have?
captb - great looking Phoenix 7. The OS .61VF is one of my favorite engines; very user-friendly and plenty of power. If you want a rocket then get a YS 60FR ( a bit hard to find these days) or a Jett 90 (beautiful piece of machinery, but a bit moe expensive than the average .60).
Happy flying,
Will

I have a Phoenix 7 that has had some minor work started. It has had the rudder sheeted and the fuse has been sanded and primed white. Thsi work done by a man that has bult probably over 200 planes, a lot of them scale.
Nothing else seems to be done to it. The box has seen better days but it would hold up to being shipped.
It's up for grabs boys.
make reasonable offer.

Thanks for your reply.
I thought it might have been something like that. I hear those Marutaka's like the MK's were outstanding. Nice.
