No Problem, The 50 and 55 are essentialy the same engine. Only difference is a 2mm larger bore. So that means new piston, ring, and cylinder. crankcase is the same except it's machined to accept the larger cylinder stub and they are now serial numbered at the factory. It's just as user friendly and powerful as it's predecessor. Could have a miniscule power advantage but I'll need more time determine that with any certainty.

Just got back from flying my DL 111 ran sweet, nice idle, smooth transition. It only has two 32 0z tanks ran through it and my glo bee tack was reading 6300 to 6500 with a TBM 27/10 prop.

I just got one from DLUSA. I live near Irving, TX and Bob was willing to meet me so I could take delivery. This is my first gas passer so Bob spent about an hour just bringing me up to speed. He spent time he did not have to in order to help me. Bob, thanks!
Bob brought a prop drill tool with him so I could look at it. I didn't have the cash for it and he let me have it anyway. I did follow-up and send him a check.
It was really great of Bob to hang with me and answer all the questions I had along with giving me insight where I did not know what to ask. Can't wait till it is all put together.

Hey Super08, I sell lots of RC products on Ebay. I stand behind everything I sell. I have even 'eaten' a few things in the past due to things beyond my control in order to make sure the customer was happy. I will match my integrity/service to any out there. I am small but I do put my customers first. Even on Ebay.
With that being said, those guys at DLUSA are second to none. Super people. I would buy from them any day.
So what's the news on the new DL55. Anybody else try it out yet?

I know of at least one manufacturer that has posted a warning on their website that there will be no warranty support for their products purchased from Ebay sellers and auctioneers, they all undercut the factory authorized dealers that comply with MAP pricing then most leave the customer hanging when warranty or technical support is needed.

It probably all comes down to whether or not you want to take a risk and save some money. I don't think that the Ebay 'undercutters' are bad. They buy their engines from the same place.
Do you think it is worth the extra $30-$50 to get a warranty. I'm not too worried. I will take a chance. If someone wants to spend the extra money it is no different than if you are buying a new copier at Best Buy and they ask you if you want the extra warranty coverage for $20. I usually take my chances.
No one is trying to rip anybody off. It's merely a question of cost vs service. Risk vs reward.
I would rather talk about how cool these engines are anyway. Sorry for the monologue on Chinese business practices.

It's not just the Chinese who's business practices are in question on Ebay, and the Ebay undercutters do not buy there engines from the the manufacturers, they get them from other Chinese wholesalers. The manufacturers do not want their engines sold on Ebay, they have a much higher regard for their products than is typicaly given by sellers on Ebay. If you do not know this then I know you are not buying your engines from the manufacturer.

RE: WOW!! New DL 111cc and 55cc !
Hey Cashboboy,
I thought I'd answer your question about "has anyone tried the DL 55 yet"? I haven't had mine in the air as of yet. I'll be buying servos for my plane in a couple of weeks but I did take it to the field and ran it on the Hanger9/Carden airframe. I have the choke servo installed along with the throttle servo. I was very impressed at the way it started and ran. I was running Air Cooled Pennzoil at about 32:1 for fuel and just a Zinger Pro 22-8 for the initial start-up. That is what I will be running for the maiden and a few flights thereafter. Like I said, start up was good, idle was a little high for the time being and the spool up was fantasic. This was all at factory settings. I didn't run it long enough to start playing with the needless but I did start it and shut it down a few times to heat cycle it. I have no rpm numbers and might check some time just for gigles but I don't rely on them. Performance in the air is what it's all about. There were a few others at the field that were as impressed as I was...... Bill

RE: WOW!! New DL 111cc and 55cc !
I've read the thread and I'm sorry if I missed it but, do the existing mufflers for the DL50/DA50 still fit the 55? I saw the post where the cylinder, piston are different, so I'm wondering. I'm about to pull the trigger on one for a GP Reactor, and that thread here on RCU notes the Jtec Pitts for a Top Flight P51 will fit nicely on the Reactor. Just wondering...

Coolthanks! Will the parts for the DL50 remain available? I see both sizes are currently available, but didn't know the future plans for the 50 now that the 55 is out.
