RE: New D3 Pattern Contest
It sound like there will close to 30 pilots coming if there are no last minute bail outs. I think we are all going to have a time. If anyone coming has some sun dots please bring them, I just don't have time to make any. But by 10:30AM the sun not going to be a real problem anyway.

RE: New D3 Pattern Contest
About how many guys are flying electric and need electricity? I could bring a small generator so Bill's won't be too overloaded. I'm heading back into town Friday night and am looking to make the drive.
Thanks,
Jim

Congrats Larry on bringing pattern back to "this neck of the woods". I will try to stop out over the weekend and see some faces I haven't seen in a while and some new ones.
Good Luck and have a great meet.

RE: New D3 Pattern Contest
Hey Orlando,
Glad to here you are coming and I hope you have a good time. It's going to be hard to follow behind you and Steve running a contest. Thank goodness I've got the right help that will be there to make everything run smooth. Mr. and Mrs. Hester, Mr Wingo, Dean Funk and Gary Courtney have all jump in there with me to make this contest a success. I will be forever in their debt.
Registration is going to be all day Friday and around 7:30AM Saturday morning. Our pilots meeting will be around 9:00AM and pending the sun we should start flying about 10AM. With daylight savings we should have no problem getting in 4 rounds on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. I think we should have everyone on the road again around 1PM on Sunday.
For those of you wanting GPS co ordinance, I don't have the number. But plug in the intersection of Tomkow Road and Old Polk City Road. The gate is at that intersection. Remember to write the code of 4646# to get in the gate and if you have troubel my cell number will be posted at the gate. You also have to have the code to get out too.

RE: New D3 Pattern Contest
Hello Larry,
Thanks for guiding me to the forum for the contest information, and the GPS coordinates.
Hopefully you will have some "Sportsman 401" pilots other than myself !!

RE: New D3 Pattern Contest
Today was a good day of practice. The wind blew a little, sometimes a dead cross and sometime right down the runway from the south. The temp. was up a little too, no it was down right hot! It seems everyone out there has shade and so if you don't have any I don't think it will be a problem. I'm looking forward to this contest and I think everyone is going to have a good time.

RE: New D3 Pattern Contest
You guys have a good time, and wish I could be there.
Had some Family issues come up that had to be tended to, and as always that sort of stuff comes first. Tell the Advanced fellows, I'm starting to pratice a bit now, so I'll keep'm honest the next time we meet.
Have Fun,
Jamie in Alabama

RE: New D3 Pattern Contest
Hey Jamie,
Sorry you couldn't come down and I hear that Mike W. had some family issues too. Please keep us posted and as soon as I can get some pics I'll get them put up here for you to see. I know your contest is coming up soon, but my work is going to keep me away. It's melon season now, but I'll be sending Chris up there to fly in your contest. The next time you guys will see me will be at Huntsville and I'll be there with a new VF3 with the new YS 200 CDI "V twin" and varible pitched prop. ( just joking: good old YS 160) . So I hope to see you and Mike there.

RE: New D3 Pattern Contest
Mike always is fighting some sort of infection, and just has to be mindfull of treatment before it gets out of hand, but think it'll be under control again by early week. By never having camped in his new camper he needs to just do some close pulling to work out any issues that may come up, and also help him in packing.
Starting last week with the SPA contest, I have weekend plans for the next 6 weeks straight. Got SEEF on my plans starting Wed., and going to see the Thunderbirds USAF flight team over at Robbins AFB Friday for the day. Long story short, I taught the current Comannder of the team Greg Thomas to fly models during his time here at Maxwell AFB, and we've been buds ever sense. Dad and I got to meet the Team last year on one of thier shows at Panama City Fl. and hanging with the Guys and Gals is a real treat.
You guys have fun and keep my MS Buds stright, if possible .

RE: New D3 Pattern Contest
Yeah, I had PLENTY of time to think about it before it went in. I had Gary, Jim and bill saying "try this and that" all the way down, it wouldn't do anything but spin...or spin faster.....but it took a long time to hit. I already had my building schedule rearranged before the impact LOL
Anyway, fantastic contest!! And y'all better watch out for the dude, he's coming on STRONG.
More later, I'm beat...
