Default how much does Nitro Chassis act as heat sink?

I'm worndering if it would be a bad idea to cover the entire bottom of the chassis with a plastic cover?

would there be a significant rise in engine operating temperature?

Brushless won't be an issue, but I can see how on nitro cars' it can lead to rise in engine temp.

Are you talking about putting it underneath or putting it under the engine? Unless your covering anything up I don't see how it would affect it at all.

I'm talking about a thin film. I hate seeing the bottom of my chassis get all scrached up and pitted. so I was thinking about using a 4mil vinyl film. or even get scrap 6mil 3m filim and sticking int on there.

Should be fine cant see something that thin stopping the chassis releasing heat
Some companys sell underside bash covers for nitros now

The chassis does get warm, but it's a big surface area, so the heat is distributed out quite a bit (i.e. not very hot). Engines should rely on their own heatsinks and not need the chassis. I would say you're safe to try it.

The chassis on nitros don't work well as a heat sink. Since they are aluminum they do transfer heat but usually the motor is not in direct contact with the chassis so how much it moves heat will depend on the mounts. With that being said it does get warm after a while of running. It can't be a big deal though because some old Tamiya nitros use a plastic chassis(some kind of composite).
